Hideaways Pizza Pub
About
Overview & Vibe
Tucked away within the prestigious Pali Ke Kua residential community in Princeville, Hideaways Pizza Pub offers a laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere that stands in contrast to the high-end resort scene of Kauai’s North Shore. While the interior is unpretentious and casual—featuring simple decor and a local pub feel—the real draw is the authentic culinary craft happening in the kitchen. Guests often find themselves here after a long day of exploring the rugged Napali Coast or snorkeling at nearby Hideaways Beach. It is one of the few truly family-owned spots in the area, providing a welcoming, approachable vibe that makes it an easy choice for a low-key dinner with friends or a quick bite after a swim.
Menu Highlights & Must-Try Dishes
- Authentic Neapolitan Pizza: The star of the show is undeniably the dough. Fermented for up to 72 hours using premium Italian flour, the crust achieves a perfect balance of chew and char. While purists might debate the sauce-to-cheese ratio, the base quality is consistently praised.
- Fresh Garden Salads: The salads are a local favorite for a reason—they offer a crisp, refreshing crunch that pairs perfectly with a heavy slice of pizza. The ingredients are fresh, providing a light start to a carbohydrate-rich meal.
- Craft Beer Selection: With 9 taps dedicated to craft brews, the pub is a go-to spot for beer enthusiasts. Whether you are looking for a local Hawaiian ale or a classic import, the rotation is curated to satisfy most palates.
- Gluten-Free & Vegan Options: Hideaways is highly inclusive, offering reliable gluten-free crusts and plant-based toppings that don't sacrifice flavor, making it a rare sanctuary for diners with specific dietary restrictions in Princeville.
Insider Dining & Tips
Because Hideaways is a small, family-run operation, patience is a virtue. During peak summer months and holidays, the small dining room can fill up quickly. If you are planning a visit, calling ahead is the best strategy—especially for large parties—to check on wait times. If the atmosphere feels a bit too energetic for your group, the kitchen offers efficient takeaway and online ordering. Many locals prefer to call in their order and enjoy their pizza back at their vacation rental or on a nearby beach at sunset.
Location & Parking
Finding the restaurant is part of the adventure. Located at 5300 Ka Haku Rd, it is nestled within a residential community. One of the most convenient aspects of Hideaways is the parking situation; unlike many busy North Shore hubs where parking is a headache, visitors to the pub are permitted to park anywhere within the complex designated for the establishment. This makes it a stress-free destination, whether you are staying in Princeville or driving in from Hanalei.

Hidden Gem? Not! Hidden yes, gem no.
This place is tucked away in the middle of some of Princeville's priciest real estate. Its website claims award winning pizza with very special dough. We stay in one of the rental condos right nearby and never tried this place so we decided to give it a go. <br />The moment we walked in we knew it was a loser in terms of ambiance, an ill kept aquarium at the front, basic hard tables and chairs, dirty windows and floors and very loud music blaring without relief. Your local Pizza Hut has a more welcoming interior than this place. Two young men running the joint were pleasant and the service just fine. We were so dissatisfied we chose to order to go rather than suffer inside! We ordered a small pizza and 1/2 salad to go total over fifty dollars. The pizza was a 6/10 the crust however was indeed amazing. The salad was excellent but the blue cheese dressing was runny and average. If you can get to it, the Brick Oven Pizza down south in Kauai beats Hideaways all ways any day. I can imagine this pizza place being ok for a hungry family who does not want to go out for dinner and is less concerned about the interior or anyone who wants a carry out pie but otherwise so many better places to eat in Hanalei. I'd skip Hideaways unless you are desperate.
