Ama Ama Restaurant
About
Sunset Views and Island Flavors
Perched right along the edge of the Pacific in the Ko Olina resort area, Ama Ama offers an open-air dining environment where the salt air is as much a part of the meal as the food itself. You will hear the rhythmic crashing of the waves against the rocky shoreline, creating a backdrop that drowns out any conversation at neighboring tables. It is an ideal spot for those looking to celebrate a special occasion while watching the sun dip below the horizon of the west side of Oahu.
Modern Hawaiian Culinary Craft
The menu focuses on locally sourced ingredients, emphasizing fresh seafood pulled from the surrounding deep waters. The kitchen, helmed by talented culinary teams, is known for elevated takes on island classics, such as their signature pan-seared catch and locally grown produce that reflects the vibrant agriculture of the Leeward Coast. Every plate arrives with a focus on color and texture, often highlighting Hawaiian salt and tropical fruit reductions.
What to Expect
While the setting is undeniably luxurious, the environment stays true to the relaxed pace of Kapolei. Expect a bustling atmosphere during the golden hour, as guests from the nearby resorts flock to the outdoor patio. A minor quirk to note: the open-air design means that on windier evenings, you might find yourself clutching your napkins to keep them from taking flight toward the tide pools. Whether you are ordering a craft cocktail or diving into a multi-course dinner, the experience is defined by the seamless transition between the manicured resort grounds and the raw beauty of the Hawaiian coastline. It is a destination that demands reservations, especially if you hope to secure a table with a clear view of the darkening sky.

We made reservations for Ama Ama during our stay at Aluani. This place was great. The staff was awesome and very friendly. The food was amazing. We were a party of 4, so we did get most of their current dishes. Standouts were the pork belly and the lobster. Excellent selection of wines and drinks on the menu. Will definitely eat here again at our next stay. Update: Still awesome!!

The pinnacle of refined dining at Aulani I had the pleasure of dining here the week they launched their new set menu, and it is unquestionably the premier dining experience at the resort. While Makahiki — The Bounty of the Islands also offers a set menu, ‘AMA ‘AMAClick to open side panel for more information delivers the sophisticated, refined atmosphere I was looking for. The staff and culinary team went above and beyond for our specific dietary needs. While other spots on the property simply adjusted their existing dishes, the chef here went the extra mile to ensure my daughter’s dairy-free and gluten-free meal was a true culinary hit that matched the high-end experience we were paying for. It wasn’t just "safe" to eat; it was exceptional. The ambiance is worth every penny. We were fortunate to secure a table with stunning, unobstructed ocean views, which really makes the meal. I’d highly recommend requesting a seat near the water in advance to fully appreciate the setting. If you’re choosing between the two main set-menu options at Aulani, this is the one to prioritize for a special, elevated evening.

Absolutely the best atmosphere for a quiet date night or anniversary. Food and service is outstanding. Plus the ocean view along with the outdoor breeze makes this location truly amazing. All the food was elegant, tasty, and well presented.

Food was amazing, Hospitality from server was fantastic. Only thing I have, which is actually very huge for me personally, was the way we were seated. There were so many empty tables closer to the front of the restaurant where there are people. We were seated at the very edge, NO PEOPLE, tables were not prepared behind us. First thing at a NICE restaurant is how you present the atmosphere to your guests. Don’t know if this was some sort of racial discrimination, but it sure did feel like it. THANKS DISNEY.

Parking/Valet: We chose to do valet for this visit because we were unfamiliar with the area and we knew our bill would be more than the $50 required to park valet. The valets were very polite and quick to park and retrieve our vehicle. Our wait was no more than 5 mins for vehicle return. Location: GPS will take you to the back of the hotel by the docks, take the right turn right where the Aulani sign is and park your vehicle or use the valet. Once you are in the hotel, turn left in the lobby, make your way down the stairs, go out the double doors on your left, and take the left pathway all the way down to Ama'ama. There will be signs to mark where you are and where you're going. Our reservation was at 8 p.m. and we werent' familiar with the area, so it was a little confusing to get to the restaurant. Check-in: We made reservations a week in advance. The restaurant calls you a few days before to confirm reservations, and then a 20 mins or so before check in to ensure that you are on your way if you haven't arrived or checked in before then. When we arrived, we checked in, the hostesses were kind enough to take our family photo in front of their beautiful signs and then showed us to our table. Atmosphere: It is very serene and calm. The view of the ocean while you are seated is very beautiful. There is music playing faintly in the background and conversations that are happening around you, but not so loud that you lose track of your own conversations. Food/Price/Service: We were seated promptly so that was a plus. We informed the restaurant that we had our toddler with us, so they were very kind, receptive and friendly towards our toddler. They spoke to her when she pointed things out she was excited about. Our waiter, Scott made the whole evening enjoyable. He brought our toddler her juice, packed her food when she didn't finish it, spoke to her kindly, and he even did a makeshift 'bed' for her when she got tired and was trying to lie down. Really really appreciated our waiter Scott for that. The food was amazing! It is a 4 course meal at $130 per person and $57 for 3 years old and up. They explain all the courses as they bring them to the table. Scott brought my spouse a few lagers to try out and we really appreciated that as well. The food was delicious! But the desserts were amazing! Definitely worth the price! We left full & we happy. We would definitely come back here for another special occasion. We were here for my spouses birthday and he was very impressed and we both loved our experience here. Would definitely come back because of the amazing food, and great service. Thanks Scott!

Scott and the team at Ama Ama absolutely crushed it! My wife and I are here on our honeymoon and we decided to make a reservation for a sunset dinner at Ama Ama. Having been let down by a few other establishments in Ko Olina, this place was our first 10/10 dinner experience. From the attention to detail, the atmosphere, the service and the food, we completely loved everything about Ama Ama. If you're a wine drinker, I highly recommend the wine pairing, it accented the food beautifully. I cannot recommend this place more!

This is the high end restaurant on Aulani property. Here they have a prix fix menu with an option for wine pairing. That being said it is a very expensive meal so great for birthdays or other special occasions. The staff were very friendly and helpful during our whole meal time. Each dish was small but full of flavor. With the wine pairing, I was pretty full by the end of the meal. Try to reserve your time close to the sunset period and you'll have a wonderful view during the meal.

We had a amazing time!!!!! The food was beautiful the restaurant gorgeous, the staff gave Disney level service. Each bite of food offered a burst of flavor, and taste. The wait staff was like dinner and a show with their knowledge and presentation of each dish. I smiled the whole time. they were friendly and commical. We had the best seat in the house for sure. Will do this again. definitely worth the price. They were so nice and the food was mouth watering.

We are here last week and the food was good. The views at sunset are amazing and the wait staff was exceptional. I read that they used to do an a la carte menu and I think that would be better. I usually like to try multiple appetizers at a place like this. Overall, the food and wine pairing was on point and very good. This may have been the only place I wish I had not gone with the local catch plate, only because it was good but nothing special. The smoked fish appetizer was probably my favorite thing out of what anyone had at the table. The octopus risotto was excellent and perfectly cooked. I would have almost eaten every appetizer and starter and skipped the main course.
