About
A Messy, High-Energy Boil in Kapolei
When you walk into Kickin Kajun, leave your formalities at the door. Located in the bustling commercial hub of Kapolei, this spot is built for those who aren’t afraid to get a little butter on their shirts. The air is thick with the sharp, peppery aroma of garlic and Cajun spices, while the sound of clattering crab crackers hitting metal trays creates a chaotic, rhythmic soundtrack typical of a weekend dinner rush.
The Main Event: Shellfish and Spice
The menu centers on the boil-in-a-bag concept. You select your catch—options usually range from jumbo shrimp and snow crab legs to crawfish—and choose your signature spice level. The 'Kickin Cajun' sauce is the clear favorite, a bold, buttery blend that leans heavily into garlic and heat. Be prepared: the space can get quite loud when the dining room hits capacity, and you might have to hunt a bit for a parking spot during peak hours, but the flavor payoff is worth the scramble.
Perfect for Casual Gatherings
This is not the place for a quiet business meeting. It is, however, the ideal destination for families and groups of friends looking to share a meal that requires total focus. Watching a group tackle a massive tray of seasoned shrimp, corn, and sausage is practically a local spectator sport here. If you’re craving a high-intensity seafood fix in West Oahu, this kitchen delivers exactly what it promises: messy, flavorful, and unpretentious comfort food that keeps people coming back despite the occasional wait for a table.

False Advertising. My family and I went for dinner on Father’s Day (Sunday) at round 5:20pm. At the entrance an advertisement board showed that happy hour was daily from 3:30pm till 6:00pm. At the table an ordered a bucket of Corona @ $15. Later the witness came back saying there was no happy hour today was it is busy day for them. But there was nothing in the restaurant saying that. Our witness only came by to check on us once. This was very disappointing but I still order a bucket of Corona and our food and in enjoyed it.

2/5 stars. I personally don’t think Kickin Kajun is worth the price. The service also wasn’t great. We weren’t checked on very often during our meal, so anytime we needed extra sauces or another drink we had to wait a while for our server. One thing I did like was that our combo came with 2 snow crab clusters, which was nice. But the side of butter honestly didn’t even taste like real butter, for lack of a better way to explain it. It also would’ve been nice if we were told beforehand that the butter was an extra $5 charge. The sauces were also way too sweet for my liking. Overall, I think The Boiling Crab is a lot better when it comes to sauce quality, butter taste, and the overall flavor of the crab and lobster. I’ll stick with The Boiling Crab for seafood.

I have been to this place once before, but only tried the fried basket. This time i tried the happy hour apps & combo boil. Crab leg combo $90. Oyster shooters (6) $18. And the jumbo shrimp cocktail $12. WORST FOOD EVER. Literally, only a few hours after dinner i was calling on the porcelain Gods to please exercise these demons! I’ve eaten some things in my life but NOTHING that has ever turned me every which way but loose, before. I swear i think their seafood died a second time before being served. Eeeee-YUCK. Also, the Host acted as if he didn’t want to seat me upon entry. My Waitress was very busy for her section, but still attentive. Hope she received all of her tip. But yeahhhh if you are looking for a good Cajun boil, don’t go to a restaurant where Cajun starts with a K. That should’ve been my first inclination to not dine there.

It was my boyfriend & I’s first time here. We got the Snowcrab seafood boil combo and it was honestly not enough for us 2, portion that was given to us seemed less (but we love food anyway). They didnt have enough garlic butter sauce at all, it didnt cover up our food. The shrimp and clams still had the raw taste to it, made my stomach upset when I got home. The crab was great though and so was the potatoes. We got a side of fries and those tasted amazing! The girl serving us was amazing, friendly even though she looked irritated/upset. Gave her a 22% tip and she cheered up! Which we loved. The other guy who came to us from time to time and got things for us was great too. We are definitely coming back!

My kids favorite. We started ordering take outs for their birthdays last year consistently. The food is always great and we all love their signature sauce. Also thankful for their manager Tracy for taking care of my concerns on 9/25/25. I appreciate it and will continue to keep coming back.

We went there on a Thursday about 630p. Lots of free parking at ka makana alii. We actually walked-in, but when it's busy you have to sign in to a waitlist. We actually was seated right away. Our server was okay, but there was a little wait for the food. We had the snow crab combo with spicy. The seafood was cooked ok, but not as much flavor. The rice and potatoe was on the hard side. It might be awhile before i come back.

This is a really good seafood restaurant. Just not great. Great flavors and well seasoned with plenty of choices to choose from. I enjoy the space in the booths and the music in the restaurant. I think the price is a bit much for the amount of food you get. Over the last few years it seems as if the prices have gone up constantly. All in all I would def recommend this place to anyone looking to have good food which a great vibe.
