Local Flavors at Ka Makana Ali'i
Stepping into Hi Steaks within the open-air Ka Makana Ali'i shopping center offers a refreshing departure from the typical white-tablecloth steakhouse experience. This is where Kapolei locals head when they want quality, flame-grilled beef without the formality of a reservation-only establishment. The air here carries the faint, savory scent of charred ribeye and garlic butter, drifting over the counter where plates are assembled with efficiency and care.
The Signature Experience
The menu centers on their well-regarded, consistently tender ribeye and New York strip steaks, often served with a generous scoop of white rice and fresh greens. The cooking method leans into a straightforward, no-nonsense approach—hot grills, high heat, and a focus on the natural quality of the meat. If you find yourself shopping in West Oahu, grabbing a box here is a practical way to fuel up before catching a movie at the nearby theaters.
Quick Bites and Practical Tips
The environment is casual and bustling, characterized by the sounds of the busy mall corridor and the steady rhythm of the kitchen staff at work. Be aware that during peak lunch hours, seating in the communal dining areas can fill up rapidly. It is the kind of spot where you aren't coming for a long, drawn-out dinner, but rather for a satisfying, hearty meal that hits the spot when you are already out running errands in Kapolei. The staff keeps the line moving, making this an ideal pit stop for those who prioritize flavor and convenience over a lengthy sit-down service.

Do yourself a favor and don't go here! I wish I had checked the reviews first before eating from this place. I got a regular steak plate with chimichurri. At first look, you can tell it's poor quality steak and it didn't taste seasoned at all. The steak was chewy and tough especially since it was more on the medium rare side. As for the rice, it wasn't too bad just slightly hard on the top layer but there were more soft spots in the middle section of the scoops. The chimichurri sauce is probably the only thing that wasn't messed up. For a $20 plate, NOT WORTH IT!! They didn't even give me the potatoes that I ordered and instead of asking if I wanted something else they decided to just give me an extra scoop of rice. Despite the reviews, if you still order from here and order steak, please at least order it well done. Don't walk, RUN away from this place!

Not a fan of this place. The one who tooked my order was nice and pleasant. Where they fail is in the food. Steak is tough, dry and chewy even while it seemed red and rare. They must use a low quality meat. Its over salted and servings are small. They bury rice under the steaks to make it look like a lot (see pic). I tried it, but won't be going back. Seems like it's mainland owned or a chain as they don't seem to really care about what they are serving locals or looking to improve their offerings.

I thought it was pretty good. Had the steak plate with kimchi salad. The staff was friendly, no wait. Walked into the food land next door to get a drink then sat and had my meal.
