A Messy, High-Energy Cajun Experience

When you walk into Da Crawfish and Crabshack, the first thing you notice is the sound of plastic gloves snapping and the metallic clatter of peel-and-eat shrimp hitting the table. This is not a place for white-tablecloth etiquette; it is an industrial-style seafood boil spot in the heart of West Oahu that prioritizes flavor over formality.

Seafood Boils Done Right

The kitchen specializes in the classic low-country boil format, served inside clear bags bursting with Cajun-inspired aromatics. You select your catch—options usually include Dungeness crab, snow crab legs, king crab, and fresh crawfish—and choose your spice level. The signature garlic butter sauce is the star here, a thick, yellow emulsion that clings to the shells and demands to be mopped up with an extra order of bread. The corn and potatoes are essential, acting as sponges for the concentrated, spicy broth that coats the entire spread.

The Kapolei Scene

Located conveniently for those cruising through Kapolei, this spot offers a casual, no-frills setting perfect for groups looking to get their hands dirty. Be aware that the space can get quite loud once the music kicks up, and on busy weekend nights, the kitchen can get backed up, so settle in with a cold drink. It is a fantastic option if you want to avoid the typical high-end dining scene near the resorts and just want a serious pile of shellfish to pick through with friends. Just keep an eye on your clothes—the spice blend is generous, and the sauce has a tendency to splash when you crack those shells open.

10 years ago, this place was my favorite. I would eat here often due to choices & atmosphere as well as the food. I've decided to take my Sister here since she's never been before & dine in. What a mistake & disappointment it was. Waitress took awhile to take our order, food was not in a bag & given to us luke temperature & not hot, we had to ask for utensils / straws / gloves & bib. We will never be dining here again. DO BETTER.....

Truly awful service. I mean, truly horrendous. Zero seasoning, literally dry 😂 Never checked on us, and we wanted to spend money! Didn’t even have the opportunity to order drinks because they ignored us. Interior vibes not really hitting either. 🥴

This place is the best ever! People are great food filled my wife all day. My wife has a ton of allergies n nothing acted up except her snoring on the way home! Highly recommend going there n getting a bite. We'll be back next payday for sure!

We visited this place twice within a week or two. Both times we had the snow crab legs in butter garlic sauce. We also had the garlic fries and kuala pork quesadillas, which was very good. The service was friendly and attentive. The place was noisy from the TVs even though there were only two other tables (both visits). I’m sure there are other better places for crabs, but you can always find a table here and price was near reasonable.

I was really looking forward to trying Da Crawfish and Crab Shack, but unfortunately, the food was a huge letdown. I would give them 0 stars if I could! I ordered snow crab clusters and shrimp in garlic butter (spicy). The spice level was good, but there was no real flavor—just heat. It desperately needed proper seasoning. I asked for Old Bay, and they brought me some sweet brown seasoning that was definitely not Old Bay. Turns out, they make their own seasoning, and honestly, it’s not good. Then came the biggest disappointment: they don’t have real butter—only margarine. I asked for butter to dip my crab legs, and they brought a bowl of margarine… and charged me $4.50 for it. I also ordered lemon and got half a lemon for $1.50. The corn and potatoes were clearly just boiled in plain water and then splashed with raw garlic and margarine. Everything was bland and unappetizing. On top of that, it was extremely hot inside—not a single window, door, AC, or fan to provide relief. It made the whole experience even worse. The only positives were that the crab legs were cooked properly, the interior was nice, and the staff was friendly and quick. But good service doesn’t make up for bad food, bad seasoning, and an uncomfortable dining environment. If they switched to real butter and actual crab seasoning, this place could be great. Until then, I wouldn’t come back. Not worth the price.

We stopped by for lunch to have our first cajun experience on the island. No reservation needed since we came during the week and within the hour they opened so it wasn't busy. We ordered Combo #1 which included clams, shrimp, craw fish, and crab legs with cajun seasoning. It came with 2 pcs of potato, corn, and sausage. I was excited for the first bite only to be disappointed. It was bland. The clams didn't have any taste, just steamed, potato - same thing. You can finally taste a bit of cajun taste on the crab legs and shrimp but still bland. I ended up asking for seasonings on the side. Seasonings weren't well mixed and under seasoned. The server at least was friendly as someone from the Aloha state. She was very accommodating and checked on us several times how we were doing. I initially thought of bringing the whole family here, but after this experience, I would hold off on it.

This place was OK at best. Didn't expect gourmet seafood but for what I was craving I took my chances. The items in the seafood boil I ordered lacked taste. I got the mild Cajun garlic butter. Food came out just boiled but without the Cajun seafood boil seasoning we are used to. The shrimp were overcooked and not de-veined. The sauce that came in the bowl was not enough to flavor the items in the bowl. The sauce was too sweet and there was no Cajun seasoning at all but plenty of minced garlic. Service was OK just didn't watching someone that got in the place 20 min after us, get their food first. Atmosphere wise I didn't ecosystems much. I've of the servers/waitresses was playing music through the speaker from her cell phone, that was little tacky. Some people may love this place but we are good on it.

Food was ok. We ordered two combos with Cajun and garlic butter. Honestly they tasted the same. It was cooked well but flavors were overpowered a bit by the butter. The garlic fries were amazing however. The service was so so. Our server did not check on us after dropping the food off. We asked for a substitution and we didn’t get it. Though to their credit they took it back and corrected it. We waited way too long for the food to arrive. I think it took 30 min when there was only two other tables being served The worst part was the atmosphere. The justice was too loud. We had this obnoxious neon sign right in our faces and one table was literally screaming they were so loud.

The flavor was great, but they are skimpy on the sauce. FROZEN crawfish market price was $20. Their combos were decent in pricing though. Today was our first time and the servers were disappointing. The restaurant isn’t huge and they were struggling. When my family and I came in there were only two other tables. There were two servers and they just glanced over and didn’t greet or acknowledged us. A third server came from the bathroom and sat us down. He had great recommendations and started strong, but once he had two more tables we were forgotten. We didn’t get charged gratuity, but be aware it’s 18% for 6 or more, so it’s possible you can receive bad service and still have to pay the 18%. The dining area was nice and prepared for customers, but the bathroom could use some work. This is my rating for now, but I will try time a second time and update accordingly.

Friendly atmosphere, also watched football. Who's your favorite team? Great food! Good price! Takes awhile to get your refill of beer because it's always busy. And their aloha is true. We will come again!
