Curry House Coco Ichibanya (s)
About
A Custom Curry Experience in West Oahu
Stepping into this Kapolei hub, you are immediately greeted by the warm, earthy aroma of simmering spices that defines the globally recognized Coco Ichibanya experience. Unlike traditional curry houses that offer a singular, rigid recipe, this spot puts the power in your hands. You start by selecting your spice level—ranging from mild to a heat that demands a glass of cold water—and then move on to rice portion sizing and a massive variety of toppings.
Why Locals Choose This Spot
The atmosphere is clean, bright, and refreshingly no-frills, making it a go-to for quick lunches or casual weeknight dinners when you crave something hearty. The signature pork-based curry sauce is rich and thick, clinging perfectly to the katsu or breaded shrimp that many regulars prioritize. It is the kind of place where you can hear the focused clinking of silverware and the hum of a busy kitchen, perfect for solo diners or families needing a reliable meal in the Kapolei Commons area.
The Little Details
One thing to note for those driving in: the parking lot during peak dinner hours can get quite crowded, so you might need to loop around once or twice. However, the efficient service usually ensures a quick turnover. Whether you are a curry purist keeping it simple with spinach and cheese or someone who wants to load up their plate with an array of fried additions, the consistency here is what keeps the tables full. It is a straightforward, satisfying slice of Japanese comfort food right in the heart of West Oahu.

If Curry House has no supporters I am dead. Has been there for me in my hardest moments. I am still young so my hardest moments is being hungry but saying that, this should tell you something. Curry House is the first place to pop into my brain when I think that I want to get something to eat. An amazing restaurant for such simple operation and not to mention, EXTREMELY CHEAP PRICES THAT CAN FEED A BIG DUDE LIKE ME! It's like $11.50 for a whole curry and katsu plate, and the price has barely risen to that point. I remember it being $9.50, then $10.50, and even around those times that was still cheap to me. Thank you Curry House for your service.

Sadly this will be our last time with this location. We drove an hour to pickup food from here as we do about once a week. We love their food go to any location we can when traveling in the states or internationally. The manager here personally knows us as well and makes sure that we get our order right as often this location will mess it up. Sometimes it’s not spicy or quantities are way less, like barely any curry for a curry place. We gave up and decided to just order a side of curry as part of our regular order. We don’t need to do this at any other location and always get enough curry just with the main order. The manager knows this and says human error happens, which yeah sure it does so no problems there. But he always makes it right at least for us until today. Today the manager wasn’t there and staff decided to argue with us when giving our food after already confirming order and total over the phone before we started driving. And then they piled the hidden charges. Of all things they wanted to charge us for extra rice which we didn’t order nor did we get with their reason being they gave us extra “extra” curry which we already did pay for. Didn’t make any sense. I don’t want to argue for my dinner. I would have gladly paid $2 more if they just added that to my entree order price but charging me bait and switch for rice I didn’t order? No way! That’s the last straw. To owner and management: Stop being so stingy with your food especially for locals who come there often. Read the other reviews, they all complain about the same thing. If it’s not cost effective for you, raise the price but don’t skimp on the quantity or even worse charge for items you’re not even serving. That’s super shady practice. If this is how they want to treat loyal long term customers, our values don’t align and we will continue to go their many other locations instead or the many different options in Kapolei that treat us as Ohana.

Love eating here. Food is always delicious and prices are reasonable. Plenty of options and I even like that I can order less rice for slightly cheaper. Gyoza is cheaper than most ramen places too.

Love love. Always great! No complaints. Great taste. Great service. Great options. Only thing I truly miss from Japan is the true spice level options 1-20.

I tried pork katsu with shrimp fry topping. It looked nothing special but the taste was good! The shrimp and the katsu were cooked just right - crispy outside and soft inside. Generous portions with good price as well. I want to try different toppings when I go next time.

We did takeout. The order was ready within 10 minutes. It was packaged very well and absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for curry, this is the place to go! Highly recommend the kalbi/fried chicken and croquettes.

This is the first time i tried any of the Coco Curry house and im happy it was a good one. I had a basic mild chicken curry and a corn croquette and it was all great. It's fast food but the people here are nicer than most high end places I have been to. The guy working at the front is literally running to make sure the guests don't need to wait. He does everything too and asked us often if everything is good, this place is lucky to have him. We sat at the bar so we could watch them cook and they also seem to get along well with each other which makes the whole place more friendly. Will def be back.

Amazing cook to order curry with huge portion sizes! My daughter had the chicken cutlet curry mild, I had the chicken cutlet udon level 3 spice and hubby created his own with chicken cutlet, stewed shrimp and fish cutlet. Did a side order of gyoza which included six pieces and side order of corn croquette which was three pieces. One of the closest things I've had to curry in Japan. Fantastic food!
