Chun Wah Kam Noodle Factory
About
A Legacy of Island Comfort
Walking into the Chun Wah Kam Noodle Factory in Kapolei, the first thing that hits you is the scent of steamed dough and savory fillings—the unmistakable aroma of Hawaii’s favorite grab-and-go comfort food. This isn't a place for white-tablecloth dining; it is a straightforward, bustling hub for those who grew up on the gold standard of local-style manapua. The glass displays are perpetually stocked with their signature char siu-filled buns, which remain the foundation of their long-standing reputation across Oahu.
The Craft of the Noodle
Beyond the fluffy, snow-white manapua, the factory lives up to its name by turning out fresh noodles daily. You’ll hear the hum of equipment in the background as workers package the staple wheat noodles used in saimin throughout the islands. If you are planning a home-cooked bowl of broth, stopping here for a fresh pack of noodles makes a noticeable difference in texture compared to the dry or refrigerated versions found at big-box grocers.
What to Expect on Your Visit
The space is functional and efficient, designed for quick turnover. Whether you are grabbing a quick lunch before heading to the beaches of West Oahu or stocking up on half-dozen boxes of buns for a family gathering, the service is fast-paced. Be mindful that during the midday rush, the parking lot in this Kapolei retail center can get tight as locals make their quick pit stops. It is best suited for food enthusiasts looking to experience a genuine slice of local culinary history without the frills of a sit-down bistro.

We got a plate for $14 and the serving size was incredible! Lemon chicken is very sweet, very similar to orange chicken but tastes more like your typical lemoncello dessert. We are i love with their manapuas! Even my picky baby enjoyed them! We got the typical, large ones (sweet pork bbq filling) in both baked and steamed. Both were perfect, we just preferred them steamed. There were people doing others’ hair behind the counter. It wasn’t near the open food so it’s not stopping me from going back for more manapuas! But I do mention it to give a feel of the atmosohere.

When you no longer live where you grew up you always visit these places when you are back. One of the many places I had to go to was Chun Wah Kam Noodle factory so I could get the food I ate living in Hawaii. I took my son specifically to get the stuff we bought from the manapua man….manapua, chow mein noodles, and pork hash. They have a lot of other delicious items to eat but I can’t eat that much. The restaurant in Kapolei is pretty big size, it’s a order as you go like Panda’s, the staff was friendly and pretty fast. The atmosphere is like any other fast food place, clean and a lot of seating. The prices were fair and portions were good. All the food was delicious and brought back a lot of memories. We love this place and will be back whenever we’re in Hawaii……

20250803 first visit. Two different entry doors: one for takeout/pick up (left) and for dine-in (right). Queue to order at counter first and then bring food to their dining area. Lots of great choices. See photos. Recommend to clean floors & bathrooms tho… got something sticky on bottom of my shoes. TIP: one server for one check/payment. AND know before server calls you up if plate, bowl, etc…
