About
A Bold Take on Hawaii’s Culinary Landscape
Stepping into XO Restaurant in Honolulu feels like sliding into the city’s best-kept secret. This is where modern Asian fusion meets the laid-back, salt-aired rhythm of downtown island life. The space hums with the clatter of woks and the low murmur of locals grabbing a pre-show bite, making it the perfect spot for those who prefer their dinner with a side of high-energy urban grit.
Signature Flavors and Culinary Craft
Chef-driven plates here rely on the bounty of local waters and farms, interpreted through a creative lens that ignores tradition for the sake of excitement. You’ll find dishes like their celebrated Oxtail Soup, which arrives piping hot with a broth so rich and star-anise fragrant that it practically demands silence while you eat. The menu shifts with the seasons, but the commitment to bold, uncompromising flavor remains a constant.
What to Expect When You Visit
The interior strikes a balance between industrial chic and welcoming warmth. Be prepared for a bit of a squeeze; the tables are spaced for efficiency, which brings you into the fold of the room’s chatter—great for people-watching, though maybe not for a hush-hush business meeting. Parking in this part of Honolulu can be a bit of a hunt, so plan your arrival accordingly. Whether you are craving a refined take on island comfort food or just need a reliable haunt that values technique over pretense, this kitchen delivers a consistent, flavorful experience every time.

Unpretentious yet high end set menu with deliciously crafted dishes without the additional “fine dining” surcharge. Food was beautifully crafted, delicious, and portions good. Just a good local restaurant that definitely prioritizes the taste of the food. Everything had a unique local Asian twist to it! This has to be one of our most memorable meals on the island and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. Free parking up front.

Amazing Christmas dinner here. The food was excellent and the service was kind and friendly. The pacing of the meal was perfect for a set course meal. The bunny mochi were not only adorable but so good I would eat one right now and everyday. The finisher of the wagyu caramels are so divine that we bought extra to bring home and share. They are fabulous.
