A Tropical Escape in Kakaʻako

Stepping into Wild Orange feels like a clean break from the bustling Honolulu streets. Located near the industrial-chic corridors of Kakaʻako, this spot leans into the raw beauty of island ingredients. The air inside hums with the low-frequency whir of high-end blenders and the crisp sound of citrus being sliced, creating an environment that feels industrious yet refreshing.

The Culinary Philosophy

The kitchen operates with a focus on vibrant, plant-forward compositions that highlight local Hawaiian agriculture. You won't find heavy, muted flavors here. Instead, the signature focus is on bright, acidic profiles—think locally sourced dragon fruit, starfruit, and sharp ginger notes that wake up the palate. The presentation is deceptively simple, often arriving in bowls that prioritize the natural pigment of the produce over elaborate plating.

What to Expect

This is a haven for those looking to fuel up after a morning surf or a long walk through the local mural district. The seating is minimalist and sparse, which keeps the flow moving quickly, though you might find the hard concrete floors make for a bit of an echo during the lunch rush. It is less of a place for a long, lingering dinner and more of a high-energy recharge zone where the sound of conversation bounces off the walls. Whether you are grabbing a quick functional beverage or a seasonal salad, the commitment to fresh, regional sourcing is evident in every bite. Expect to pay for the quality of ingredients, but for those who value clean eating in the center of the city, this outpost provides exactly what it promises.

If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll love this place! The menu has a fantastic vegan selection of dishes, and we loved everything we tried. We only had good comments about the food. I can’t wait to come back again! The service and restaurant decor at Wild Orange is unmatched. The staff was attentive, ensuring everything was perfect without being overbearing. Their attention to detail made us feel like a VIPs! Our servers, Elsa and Fern went above and beyond, accommodating every request with a smile. They ensured we had everything we needed and made the evening special. Renae, their helper was also a big help and kept our water glasses filled!

This is a speakeasy with mostly plant-based options for food (vegan). The drink menu is very large, unique, and very well organized. They have many fun little "shooters". The gelo shots (which are vegan) are very good. The food menu is modest but there are some high quality options on there. The decore is very unique to say the least, but its such a nice vibe overall. It sits on the inside of Hawaiian Brian's on the second floor of the parking garage. It's highly recommended to make a reservation, which will also give you the directions on how to get inside, as its not that obvious. One tip if you are dropped off in an uber, to get to the second floor of the parking garage from the street, you can go through the 24 hour fitness, up the stairs, past the front desk into the parking garage, go straight through Hawaiian Brian's and then make a right and head towards a vending machine, which is a secret door.

🍸 Hidden gem with incredible plant-based food and cocktails! 🌿 Loved this spot! As a proper speakeasy, it’s meant to be hard to find — and that just adds to the experience. The Japanese-inspired drinks were excellent and the plant-based food was outstanding. Great atmosphere once you’re inside. Definitely worth the hunt if you’re into unique cocktails and a cool, hidden vibe.
