Wicked Maine Lobster at the Royal Hawaiian Center

Worst lobster roll ever. I can taste the unfreshness and some shells. The seasoning was so dumb. The service made me feel like I'm overseas, seemed hard to communicate in English, don't know why. But when it comes to seafood, not fresh is the most unacceptable thing. DO NOT try even once.

This place was great and the food tasted amazing. We tried the Maine lobster rolls and clam chowder. The rolls were something I had tried before elsewhere and was familiar with what I was expecting. It was a soft and buttery roll and was not disappointed. It could have been packed a little more with lobster but that didn’t hinder the meal. The fries were probably the best fries we have had in all of Waikiki. Extremely well flavoured and were soft and crunchy. The clam chowder was the gamble we took and tried it and I must say it was great. Didn’t really know what to expect but it tasted like a creamy fish soup, doesn’t sound appealing to many but trust me it was a great. Well flavoured. The only downside to this place, and hence the 4 stars was the price. We spent almost $80USD for 2 roll meals and clam chowder. This would equate to over $100 AUD. If you can move past this point, it’s worth trying. Staff were great and both ladies were helpful and kind. There is also unlimited refills here. Overall, 4/5 purely based on pricing.

April 2nd, 2025 – What Happened to Wicked Lobster?! This used to be one of my favorite spots in the roya hawaiian Food Court. The lobster was well-priced, and the lobster tacos were absolutely awesome. It used to taste fresh and flavorful—like something you'd get on the East Coast. But not anymore. The quality has plummeted. The lobster tastes off—like it's been sitting too long or cooked with a totally different (and terrible) recipe. It's disgusting now. The whole experience was disappointing. Either management changed, or they hired a new cook who has no idea what they’re doing. Whatever made this place good is gone. Don’t waste your money here. Go to Fat Cheeks instead. Their lobster burger actually tastes like real Maine lobster. You’ll leave happy, not nauseated.

This has got to be the BEST Lobster roll we have ever tried. We got the Maine Lobster Roll as a meal (hot butter) and it’s SOOOOO GOOODD 🤤 picture a hot buttery garlic bread packed with lobster meat. The fries are pretty great too. We loved it so much after the first time trying it that we came back the day after again for lunch. Still can’t believe the quality we got in the food court! The coleslaw is not bad but just not to our taste buds. Interesting to try for sure as it’s coleslaw with pineapples in it. :) if you have trouble finding it, look for Hermes and then follow signs to the food court.

WELL DONE...I am originally from Maine and worked in the Seafood industry, specifically Lobsters. Everything was fresh and on par with what I have received on the East Coast in terms of taste and price. I had the lobster salad sandwich and other than the fact that I like it to sit overnight and blend before eating it was delicious. The meat was not frozen. The fries were great and the hot dog roll is just like home.
