Wasabi Bistro

Absolutely the freshest sashimi I've had in a while. Highly recommended. So many dishes that will satisfy anyone's appetite. This restaurant is hidden within the side streets of Waikiki in a small hotel. Really great & friendly service too. I would definitely come back.

So glad we decided to try Wasabi Bistro. Over the years of coming to Oahu from SF, we would pass by this somewhat hidden and unassuming spot when going to the tonkatsu spot across the street. We enjoyed our time there so much we came back two days later. We made a reservation and though we came a day early (oops!) they were able to accommodate our party of 5. Past a hotel pool is a small, quaint little restaurant with about 10 tables and a small sushi bar. Clean, well lit with the most kind, courteous staff we’ve encountered in a long time. They were all genuinely eager to please, without being intrusive and anticipated our needs and accommodating our numerous requests (we have some food allergies and 2 young kids). On our first time, we ordered cold sake that came in the small boxes that had extra sake (!), and gyoza, edamame, a full set of chicken teriyaki, cold udon, tempura, and a variety of maki and nigiri (spicy tuna, California roll, avocado maki, botan shrimp. Food was prepared with care, came out quickly and all delicious! Our second time we tried the Maui onion salad (I highly recommend), more sushi/maki, and more sake! And the tamago (a true barometer of a good sushi spot IMO, was delightful!) Can’t wait to return to this wonderful place. Reservations recommended but you may be able to get in the same day just call ahead! Mahalo Wasabi Bistro!

Amazing sushi with over the top service! I had some very fresh red snapper and tuna. The crispy rice and tuna was amazing. If you are looking for real fresh sushi, this is the place!!

Wasabi Bistro was one of those rare dining experiences that reminds you that restaurants can still surprise you. In the best possible way. Every dish felt alive! Layered, intentional, and authentic. The flavor combinations were delicate but bold, comforting yet unfamiliar. Every unexpected note had purpose, and somehow every combination worked perfectly. What stood out most was the dynamic rhythm of the meal. Just when you thought you understood the direction of the experience, another dish arrived that completely shifted the palate and elevated the entire evening. There was a constant sense of discovery in the subtle surprises, unusual flavors, and texture contrasts that felt artistic. And the service was truly exceptional. We loved having Yun as our guide through this dining experience. He was genuinely thrilled at our enjoyment and wanted us to experience their best creations. Yun was exceptional to say the least - a rare bird and one we won’t soon forget. Trust the staffs guidance, they will take you on a beautiful ride! Wasabi Bistro manages to do something incredibly difficult: it delivers food that feels both deeply rooted in authenticity and completely original at the same time.

Super cute restaurant! Everybody is very friendly and was great with suggestions on sake and sushi. Recommend to make a reservation on the weekends. Will absolutely be back next time !

There are local secrets. there’re hidden gems. There are venues that ooze sophistication. This is all three. It took me 20 years to find this place. Hidden at the back of a vintage Japanese inspired hotel, you enter to low ceilings, a cosy sushi bar, and a restaurant that is simple Japanese-cool. Food and staff fabulous and Japanese staff behind the food. A magic last night in Hawaii. We’ll be back know every time.

Excellent and very authentic sushi experience! Very glad to have found this place during my trip to Honolulu. Would recommend making reservations for here but if you're a party of two or fewer, there's open bar seating.

Worth the time for waiting! We had to make appointment to get a seat at last available slot, but totally worth it! Raw seafood is very delicious and fresh. I can taste the little sweet from the scallop. They also serve a couple of unique dish. For example, the baked papaya get it's taste into seafood. Very good！environment is good too. Feels like a real Japanese restaurant. Highly recommend restaurant in Waikiki. Not easy for parking. We walked to this restaurant.

In one word: Amazing. It has been a shame that I was born and raised a mile and a half away and only recently “discovered” this gem on a visit home. We enjoyed our first visit so much it, we made reservations again a few nights later! The service was impeccable. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. They asked questions regarding our taste palette and brought out dishes they thought we would enjoy. On our second visit, they remembered us, our drink and food preferences, and it made us feel valued and prioritized. We have dined at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe and five-star restaurants across the country and Hawaii… Wasabi Bistro is by far the top of our list when it comes to our best dining experience. We can’t wait to return!

An amazing experience in a hidden away gem! Waikiki can be quite expensive to eat out but these folks keep costs to realistic and affordable! The staff were so friendly and we noticed many locals patron this place, so an excellent sign. They also have a great selection of specials you won’t see until you arrive at great prices! I would highly recommend a visit.
