Waikiki Brewing Company (1945 Kalakaua Ave. Ala Moana and Ena Road)
About
Sip Local near the Ala Moana Gateway
Situated right where Kalakaua Avenue meets Ena Road, Waikiki Brewing Company serves as a rugged, high-energy anchor for those wandering away from the sand and toward the Ala Moana district. The open-air architecture invites the warm Hawaiian breeze to circulate through a space that feels more like a dedicated neighborhood workshop than a polished resort bar.
The Brews Behind the Bar
This is where hops meet island culture. The operation focuses heavily on approachable, high-quality ales and lagers brewed right on-site. Visitors frequently gravitate toward the Ala Moana Amber or the refreshing Aloha Spirit Blonde. You will hear the distinct clatter of heavy pint glasses hitting wooden tables, punctuated by the hum of locals debating the day’s surf report. It isn’t a place for hushed, romantic whispers, but rather a spot for post-beach camaraderie.
Hearty Provisions for Island Hunger
The kitchen leans into elevated pub fare designed to soak up those extra ounces of IPA. Their signature brisket burger and crispy jalapeño poppers are standard orders, often arriving at the table with an aromatic char that cuts through the salt air. Note that the acoustics can get quite lively during happy hour, making it a perfect spot for groups, though perhaps less ideal for an intimate business meeting.
Parking can be a bit of a localized puzzle in this high-traffic corner of Honolulu, so most regulars opt for a rideshare or a short walk from their hotel. Whether you are looking for a flight of local craft beer or a casual dinner that skips the white-tablecloth pretense, this spot captures the unbuttoned, relaxed side of the Ala Moana and Waikiki corridor.

Really good food and only $8 cocktails which in my opinion is a really good deal. Especially during happy hour. You can get $5 beers

This place has a great atmosphere and good service, but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. The pizza tasted like cafeteria pizza small, with a cracker-like crust that definitely didn’t seem homemade. The wings were burnt, dry, and the presentation made them even less appealing. We actually left still hungry because the food was so unappetizing and ended up going to another restaurant afterward just to eat. Overall, it felt like a waste of money. If you’re looking for drinks and a fun atmosphere, this could be a good spot. But if you’re looking for genuinely delicious food, I wouldn’t recommend it.

We enjoyed a BBQ chicken burger with fries. We also had a Coke cola and craft beer. Everything was delicious. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. The inside has fresh air and fans and the outside is covered with umbrellas. The bathrooms are also very clean. The staff is friendly, kind, and professional.

Great selection of local beers. It was like my rest stop while walking back to my hotel, perfect location for me. I enjoyed the chicken wings with my beer. I would literally visit this place everyday if I could stay for much longer. The vibe was really wonderful. Awesome bartenders, very helpful in understanding the local beers, and very welcoming.

Convenient location, lots of seats. Several pale ales and IPAs on tap. Jalapeno mouth was an interesting beer, wouldn't order another. Fish tacos were tasty but blackened seasoning was a lot. Pineapple rice it came with was not good. Pizza was not good, too much dough, bland toppings.

Yikes. The tall hostess was incredibly rude. I have never been treated so badly at a restaurant. I almost turned around and left, but I was there to see friends, so I just let it slide. The good news is that everyone else I met there was super nice. The bartenders were phenomenal, and the other staff were also really nice. The other female hostess was great too, so I don’t know what was going on with the first hostess I met. I’m glad I didn’t leave because of her. The food was great, the drinks were great, and I will come back again—but I’ll definitely avoid that one tall hostess. Just in case you’re also offended by the tall hostess and want to go somewhere else, there are a bunch of food trucks across the street, and the food there is excellent. The great part is that it’s BYOB. Or, if you walk nearby, you can go to Tropics Bar and Grill and also Suzie Wong’s Hideout. It’s very similar to Waikiki Brewing. I promise no one will treat you badly at any of these other places! Just search “rude” in the reviews. It’s just one girl who’s making everyone mad. Why does she still work here?

30 years ago you couldn’t find any decent craft beer anywhere in Hawaii. Now, fortunately, there are several great spots for good beer on O’ahu. Waikiki Brewing Co. Is one of them. Pros: Really solid beers. Maybe not the absolute top on the island, but very close. Nice selection of regular brews plus a lot of temporary trial beers. All very good. The Black Strap porter is complex with a strong chocolate presence. All their IPAs are great. Good food selections and preparations. Their smoked wings are very good. Perfectly smoked and generous portions. The poke nachos are excellent but could use a few more wantons. Cons: It’s LOUD! Small parking lot and if you don’t get a spot then it’s very hard to find anywhere else to park. It’s become one of our regular spots to visit.

Great local brewery in the heart of Waikiki. The hostess needs a slight attitude adjustment but other than that. The food was great; loaded fries, tacos and wow on the smoked wings (with a delicious homemade dipping hot sauce). We'll be back! Well done Waikiki Brewing. There is a lot to choose from and your brewery is a stand out!

Both food and drink were great. Great selection of beer and mixed drinks. The staff were great. Tha biggest downfall is that this is the second trip I have made here and still can't get a shirt because they did not have any. The staff showed me where they should be and joked about the lack of items currently to purchase. I'd really like a shirt but won't be in Oahu for a while and hope someone can reach out about this.

They have a nice selection of delicious cold draft beers. They also make other mixed drinks. We got some lunch here and everything we ordered was delicious. I ordered a nice Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The lettuce was fresh chicken was tender and the dressing was perfectly proportioned. I also ordered a burrito with the egg on top. Amazing. It's easy to hear each other in there. The wait staff are friendly and not pushy. We really enjoyed ourselves there.
