A Relaxed Corner of Honolulu Dining

Tucked away in the urban sprawl of Honolulu, Trees Restaurant & Bar offers a straightforward approach to island-inspired comfort food. The space carries a casual, unpretentious energy that feels distinctly local, eschewing the polished, high-gloss aesthetic of Waikiki’s beachfront resorts in favor of a more grounded, neighborhood pub atmosphere.

Savoring Local Favorites

The menu focuses on classic Hawaiian-style plates and approachable bar fare. Regulars often gravitate toward the comfort of their fried rice dishes and generous portions of savory meats, which pair best with an ice-cold domestic beer. You will hear the distinct clatter of plates meeting wooden tables and the low hum of television sports coverage, creating a setting that is perfect for those who want to skip the dress code and just focus on a hearty meal.

Practical Dining Notes

While the atmosphere is welcoming, be prepared for the realities of city parking, which can be a bit of a challenge during peak dinner hours. It is the type of establishment where you go to catch up with friends or grab a quick bite after a long day in the city. The service is efficient and direct, reflecting the no-nonsense charm of the local Honolulu dining scene. Whether you are looking for a mid-week pick-me-up or a casual spot to linger over drinks, this venue provides a solid, reliable experience that prioritizes flavor over flash.

Undercooked egg in the loco moco, overcooked fries and bacon, poor service, and you expect more than a 10% tip? That’s ridiculous.

As others have stated, and I wish I knew before, the $30 breakfast buffet here is criminally over priced. You'll get higher quality, more variety, and better options at a complimentary Hampton Inn breakfast. Bringing a tab for "waiters" to receive a tip at a buffet is also insane. It's a freaking buffet and patrons are getting up and serving themselves, so what are we tipping for?!

Food is good but the bartender is the best. Chinita is the best bartender super friendly makes great drinks and makes us want to come back! We are moving hotels now that our work trip is over but are planning on coming back just to see her!

There are so many better options for food at this price point. $30 for that breakfast buffet is criminal, it's the same as a free breakfast at a Best Western. Please just go to sunnys or goofys and get better food for half the price for breakfast. Dinner there's a ton of options but if you don't want to travel far the food trucks across the street are all great. Happy hour is $2 off (9.50 -> 7.50) on only a few beers. If I didn't have hotel credit towards food, wouldn't have eaten there. Chicken sandwich and fish and chips were good though.

BEWARE! They serve a basic continental breakfast, but try to charge you $30 for it. The signage and wording in the Hilton app is unclear and confusing. The wait staff are rude. There is no way that this is worth $30. This is criminal. They just blame Hilton and try to pass you off while huffing at you. It's obvious that this is an issue that they deal with on a regular basis, and they're tired of it. SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Make better signage. It's not that hard. Quit blaming confused customers when it's YOUR strange policies and lack of communication!

Four stars for the friendly bartender and cold beers, zero stars for the awful food and terrible service (averages to 2 stars). After a long day of travel, we checked in and wanted to grab a quick bite before bed. The first words out of our server's mouth was "kitchen closes soon", even though the advertised hours said not for another 30 minutes. He seated us and rushed us to order, never offered any drinks. The bartender eventually came over and got us some drinks. When the food came, it was horrible. The margherita flatbread was missing basil (1 of 3 ingredients, if you're not familiar... Mozzarella, tomatoes, and fresh basil, not complicated), and the cheese tasted like plastic. My wife's chicken was barely cooked. To top it off the server was rude to our 3 year old, despite that she wasn't eating, not making a mess, and certainly not making a scene. He has absolutely no business waiting tables. I spent several years serving, bartending, and cooking in restaurants, and I would've been embarrassed to work with such a horrible server. The bartender was friendly and apologized for the subpar food and bad service. We never went back to this place on our weeklong trip, there are so many better spots in Honolulu. Amazing food just steps outside the hotel. Don't even bother here unless you just want a drink.

Came here for Valentine's Day with the Mrs. And the food and service was excellent! The special they offered was huge and plenty for two. The staff are friendly and the place was not too crowded. An awesome hidden gem in the heart of Waikiki.

Ok food, convenient for being at the hotel, but super overpriced. Had to edit this review, so … this place is not open till 9PM on Friday and Saturday as advertised. Recommend finding a much better local place to eat or the ABC Store.

Second time here. Never again. Of all the great food, service, and atmosphere in Honolulu, this place is well below average. With seven people in the place: 30min for a beer, another 30min for food, and another 10 min for a second beer. No acknowledgement from the staff that this was sub par. They don't care. Good luck!
