TR Fire Grill
About
Smoke, Flame, and Honolulu Flavor
Located in the heart of the Waikiki district, TR Fire Grill brings a focused approach to modern American comfort food. This isn't your standard resort fare; the kitchen centers its identity around a wood-fired grill that imparts a distinct, earthy char to everything from aged steaks to fresh island-caught fish. When you walk in, the scent of hickory smoke hits you immediately, contrasting with the polished, urban layout of the dining room.
The Signature Experience
The culinary program here leans heavily into scratch-made preparations. Their signature dish—often cited for its depth of flavor—is the slow-smoked St. Louis-style ribs. The meat pulls clean from the bone, glazed in a house-made sauce that balances tang with a subtle heat. If you visit, pair your entree with one of their barrel-aged cocktails; the bartenders here treat mixology with the same precision as the grill cooks treat the protein.
Things to Keep in Mind
The energy level fluctuates depending on the hour. During happy hour, the bar area becomes a bustling hub for locals and visitors alike, which can get quite loud due to the high ceilings and open floor plan. It is a fantastic spot if you want to soak up the high-energy pulse of Honolulu nightlife before heading toward the beach. Parking in this part of Waikiki can be a bit of a puzzle, so opting for a ride-share service often saves you the frustration of navigating the nearby multi-level garages. Whether you are coming in for a casual lunch or a more involved dinner, the staff maintains a grounded, welcoming pace that fits the Hawaiian lifestyle.

UPDATE: 01/2026 Wow this place has declined. First, while the street side area was nearly empty, the hostess is sticking guests in the back corners by the kitchen. Worst seats in the house for sure. The Menu is now just pathetic. No flexibility in options. Asked if I could make a small change to the omelette and was told they’re premade. Yuk. Potatoes are now cheap hash browns, and since you can’t customize a $19 omelette, I just ordered the classic sandwich and planned to get lunch sooner than later, somewhere else. The sandwich was bland and super basic. 1 star for being sort of warm. The “cheddar” was super thin slice of American, and didn’t fully melt by the time I finished. “Ham” was about three of the thinnest Oscar Meyer lunch meat slices you can find. A clump of mayo in the middle. The bread wasn’t horrible but was literally from the toaster. Not grilled or buttered like a breakfast sandwich. And in the weirdest twist, it came with a small arugula salad, doused in cheap ranch dressing. Wasn’t on the menu, and not a normal side. Finally, it felt like the server knew it too. She was honest and seemed kind, and was certainly polite, but clearly wasn’t too happy to be there. Boy has this place fallen from grace. It needs new management and a new chef. ASAP. But I won’t be back. Original Review: Overall, it’s a decent place for a quick breakfast. It’s no longer a buffet style or hybrid - it’s regular menu. But they have reduced the prices some, which is needed. Coffee is included but it’s self serve. Odd choice, but for the prices having not included is nice. The food is okay. Omelettes look pre-made, and heated to order. My order came out in about 3 minutes. It was also extremely small, so the price makes sense. The diced potatoes are clearly reused bakers from the night before. Mushy, but warm. The Portuguese sausage option says “(3)” and it’s three thin slices like you would pick out of the buffet. I would definitely not pay $3.5 for this side. The toast was plain white or wheat and what you’d find on the bread bar at the buffet. Plain and simple, and only one slice for the $2.50 extra fee. Presentation was kinda sad. A small omelette, three little sausage pieces, and a clump of overcooked potatoes was dwarfed by the massive plate it was served on. Service was warm and friendly, and the waitress explained the new breakfast menu without issue. Can’t complain about that. Overall, it’s probably one of the quickest and cheapest places to get breakfast on Waikiki, but the value is priced accordingly. I’d go back for a quick meal, but I won’t be craving a chance to return.

OMG, WOW, and Delightful: Happy Hour drinks and appetizers were well priced and very tasteful. The main dishes were exceptional, we had the lobster and filet combo, lobster cooked just right and the filet was so tender a knife was not needed. The service (not sure of the spelling).....Ghee-Ghee (from Brazil) was exceptional! He was polite, attentive, and very personable. He kept a close eye on all of the tables he had, and ensured all were taken care of to the highest level of service. THANKS to him for making the time there memorable! GREAT SERVICE GOOD PRICES (compared to other Waikiki locations) GREAT ATMOSPHERE You will not be disappointed

Service was both professional and very nice, and we were immediately seated for breakfast. The wait staff had recommended a reasonably priced breakfast plate, which looked good in the photos and the price seemed very reasonable. However, the actual food that was served to us appeared to have been scooped out of a buffet food warmer. This breakfast plate definitely doesn't resonate as if it were created from a 'Fire Grill'. Overall, this staff-recommended plate of food tasted very plain, and we experienced alittle sticker shock from the very small glass of $5 juice and the barely toasted $4 plain bagel. The restaurant has photos & reviews posted of other food options for lunch/dinner, but we didn't want to take another chance after this experience - will not recommend or visit again ourselves.

We stopped by for its Happy Hours and tried a few dishes. The baby back ribs were 90% tender (one end got burnt a bit) and pretty tasty. The. Asparagus were just okay. The cold Kirin draft was delightful to the taste bud. The service was good and the sitting area was confortable that we ate and enjoyed people (and many doggies) watching. It is a pretty good afternoon light fare experience in the heart of Waikiki.

What can I say... a delightful place, simple yet unique, with good background music that doesn't disturb the customers. The dishes, from tapas to paella, are very good. A special thanks to Gigi, the waiter who looked after us, very professional... it was immediately evident in the way he presented the wine. It's a shame our trip ends here, otherwise we would have returned. See you next year in November, Mauro and Sabrina from Sardinia Island, Italy

Fire Grill is officially one of my favorite places to eat, and a huge reason is our server, Dominique. From the moment we sat down, he was on it — welcoming, attentive, and genuinely amazing at what he does. He didn’t just take our order… he took care of us. Dominique anticipated what we needed before we even asked, checked on us at the perfect times, and made the entire experience feel effortless. His service was professional, friendly, and honestly the best I’ve had anywhere on island. The food was great, but Dominique made the night unforgettable. Fire Grill is lucky to have someone who represents the restaurant with that level of excellence. If anyone deserves a raise or recognition, it’s him. Highly recommend this spot — and if you can, ask for Dominique. You’ll see exactly why this review was so easy to write.

My first time here and I was very happy to have come. My buddy had talked about this place and, especially the bone marrow, so I had to come. We sat at the bar and our bartender, Kris was amazing. It was a Wednesday night and the bar and the dining room was full, and she was by herself, and handled everything like a champ. They have my favorite beer on tap (Kirin), along with several others, as well as a full cocktail and wine menu. The food is really good, and I'm so happy that they had the bone marrow that I came for (we ordered the last one), and it was great. I learned that they acquired the rights to the recipe for Tony Roma's ribs, so we ordered a tasting bite, and it was great. It had a slightly more tangy, sour note than I remember, but they were fall off the bone tender and very tasty. The service is great and the food and drinks as well. It's definitely a place worth coming to, and I will be here again soon.
