Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen - Waikiki Yokocho

Newly opened authentic Japanese Ramen joint. Still working out the kinks so service might be slow and food might ran out early. But the soup stock and the noodles were unique enough to be worth the wait. Ordered the Kazan (Volcano) Shouyu Ramen with menma (bamboo shoots, and yes that's her nickname, if it seemed familiar). And got the green tea ice cream (matcha anmitsu) to go.

It is not traditional Japanese ramen. Soup is tasteless and salty. But volcano ramen is pretty cool, other than that taste is not good. Plus food is pretty pricey. and they charge 18% service fee mandatory.

This place was slammed when we walked up and the two servers were running around working their tails off. If they stopped to breathe for a second, they were still scanning the room looking for what was next. The food was also delicious. My only complaint is their check in process was lackluster - they kind of ignore you until a table frees up, and there's no sign in sheet to establish an order so you can stand out of the way. I saw a bunch of people walk away that might not have if there had been a little more organization.

I went to this restaurant with my family during vacation. The food was ok but the service was absolute trash! The boss of the restaurant charged us $114 for a bowl of ramen. We noticed this and immediately told him. Instead of changing it he started arguing with us saying that we had made a mistake! He was very rude towards us and started pointing at us. He even added a 15 percent bill without telling us. In the end, he changed the bill and we walked away. I do not recommend this restaurant because of the terrible service provided to customers!

We ordered a fried rice and a ramen set. If you have ever eaten Costco instant ramen, yes, the ramen was exactly the same, same texture, same thickness... I’ve never seen this kind of ramen in a ramen restaurant. It was surprisingly bad. The rice with the Karaage, which is the side of the ramen, was good. Asahi super dry was good too. The fried rice was very dry — hard to swallow, with extra fat tonkatsu dice. It was far below the average level of any kind of Hawaiien or Asian fried rice. 15% tip is automatically added to the bill, with a unfilled tip space on the receipt.

This ramen place serves the 'volcano ramen' which is interesting. However the noodle quality is average and the soup is a bit salty.

Really good ramen and service. We will return. We ordered the beef Kazan, spicy ramen and fried chicken. They were all good. The waiter service was also great. Our water was filled without having to find the sever. The spicy ramen was not too sweet spicy where your mouth becomes numb so that was good. Place was clean and the food came quickly.

Great experience. Wonderful people, tasty food. Large ramen is enough for 2!

They are located in the furtherest corner of Yokkocho. Food was just alright. Volcano ramen was very cool and filling but wasn’t authentic ramen noodles or soup. Price is ok compared since all the shops in Yokkocho is pretty expensive. 10% Kama’aina discount.

All ramen is chicken (tori) based broth. Prices are reasonable for Waikiki standards although there are many better ramen places. It’s a “pop up” so they may not be around for long. I had the poke donburi, no onions, for $5.98. It was okay. 15% service charge already added to the bill. They have lunch specials that look reasonable.
