Spice Up Your Honolulu Evenings

Tucked away from the bustling tourist corridors of Waikiki, To Thai For brings a sharp, fragrant edge to the Honolulu food scene. The air inside is thick with the scent of freshly crushed lemongrass, galangal, and the unmistakable, deep funk of fish sauce bubbling in a wok. It is a no-frills, utilitarian space where the focus is firmly on the heat level rather than the interior design.

Bold Flavors and Local Favorites

This is where you go when you want a Green Curry that actually commands respect. The kitchen excels at balancing the delicate sweetness of coconut milk with a fiery Thai chili kick that lingers long after your last bite. Their Pad Thai is stripped of the cloying sweetness found in many local spots, opting instead for a tamarind-heavy profile that feels authentic to Bangkok street stalls. The Drunken Noodles, served with a generous amount of holy basil, are a staple for those seeking a savory, soul-warming meal after a long day near the Ala Moana district.

What to Expect

The atmosphere is bustling, often punctuated by the clatter of metal ladles against seasoned steel. It is a fast-paced environment suited for a quick, high-intensity lunch or a casual dinner when you aren't in the mood for white-tablecloth pretense. A word of caution: the seating is efficient and close-quarters, and parking in this part of town can be a bit of a localized hunt, so factor in a few extra minutes to navigate the surrounding blocks. If you have a low tolerance for spice, be sure to speak up when ordering—the chefs here don’t shy away from heat, and they treat 'medium' as a serious proposition.

Great restaurant outside of the center of Waikiki. The food - green curry, pad seyu, fried rice, Thai sticky rice - was all delicious. The food came out quickly. Trey, our waiter, was friendly and informative.

To Thai For is hands-down my favorite spot for Thai food! The staff are incredibly kindhearted and thoughtful. They've truly made me feel like part of the family. Since it's a family-owned restaurant, you can feel the love and care that goes into every dish and every interaction. My go-to dishes are the Green Curry and Pad See Ew (they never disappoint). The Green Curry is rich, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with sticky rice. As for the Pad See Ew, it's ideally moist (unlike other places where it can turn out dry), and always hits the spot. If you're sensitive to spice, definitely chat with your server and they'll help you find the perfect level for your taste! Recently, they offered a special in August: Khao Soi and OMG, it instantly became my favorite. The creamy coconut curry, tender chicken that falls right off the bone, and crispy egg noodles on top... it's an absolute must-try. They've also introduced a happy hour menu (Wed-Sat), and I highly recommend the spring rolls! Super fresh and flavorful. When it comes to drinks, I'm addicted to their Thai tea. It's creamy, sweet, and totally crave-worthy. Even when I'm not there for a full meal, I love grabbing one of their desserts. The banana lumpia and mango sticky rice with ice cream are my go-to sweet treats. The vibe of the place is super relaxing and family-friendly. Kids (and adults, lol!) can enjoy coloring books at the table. There's also a bar in the front, which is a great spot if you're dining solo. Whether you're going for lunch, dinner, or just dessert and a drink, To Thai For is the kind of place that keeps you coming back!

We came in by a happy accident after our intended destination was closed. I ordered the pumpkin curry and every bite was delightful and savory; full of flavour! I will definitely come back to try other menu items.

We stayed in Waikiki. Shopped at Kahala Mall. We were looking for a place to eat on the way back and found lots of options along Waialae Avenue (Kaimuki). The ambience =3 stars here (stark, clinical, plastic chairs) however the food/flavors =4 stars. Friendly service = 4 stars. Value for money = 4 stars. After dinner there are places to grab dessert or after dinner boba.

OMG the fish here!!!! YUMMY food all around. There is nothing here I didn't like. The calamari is tender and breaded go perfection. The fish is delicious. Perfectly fried in a sweet and tangy sauce. The service can't be any better easily my favorite Thai restaurant in island so far. Can't wait to go back.

Really great food, and excellent service. The food is individually spiced and almost everything can be made with GF Tamari sauce. Food pics are pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, pumpkin Curry, and Thai basil stir fry. Also the summer rolls with a unique peanut sauce.

This place is delicious. One of my favorite food joints that right down the street. I love to get it for takeaway, they box it up for ready transport, are fast and offer generous portion sizes! I highly recommend their Tempora Veggies, some of the best I've ever had, and their Pad Thai, with fish. Be careful with how spicy you ask for, spicy is very spicy, although I'm a fan of hot and spicy food, I would go a little mild unless you are a fan of spicy Curry. Portion sizes are very generous for the prices, I would definitely recommend this place for good food on a budget, and their dining area is nice and their bar is a great place for a cheap date.
