A Taste of the East Coast in the Heart of Oahu

When you crave a sandwich that actually holds up to the salt air, Timmy T's Gourmet Grinders is the neighborhood staple serving Honolulu locals who miss a proper sub. Located just minutes from the Pearl Harbor historic sites, this isn't your average deli. The menu revolves around their signature hot grinders, crafted with high-quality deli meats and freshly baked bread that maintains that crucial crunch-to-chew ratio.

The Experience

Stepping into this shop feels like walking into a classic, no-nonsense neighborhood kitchen. The air is consistently thick with the scent of toasted provolone and fresh hoagie rolls. It is loud in the best way possible—the sound of the industrial slicer humming and the sizzle of meat on the grill creates a lively, fast-paced atmosphere perfect for a quick lunch break or a post-work takeout run.

What to Order

The roast beef and the classic Italian are the heavy hitters here. The staff piles the ingredients high, so prepare for a messy, satisfying meal that requires a stack of napkins. While the parking lot can get a bit tight during the peak noon rush, the speed of service ensures you won't be lingering in your vehicle for long. It is the ideal spot for locals who prioritize flavor and portion size over white-tablecloth service.

Local Vibe

This is a spot built for the hardworking crowd in the Valkenburgh area. Whether you are grabbing a sub to eat on the tailgate or taking a quick bite before heading back to the office, the focus remains strictly on quality ingredients. If you appreciate a sandwich that arrives steaming hot and won't leave you hungry an hour later, this Honolulu delivers exactly what you need.

Every sandwich is freshly made. It’s a little bit on the expensive side but considering inflation and the cost of everything, it was ok. Located in a busy mall with inadequate enough parking. The store can be busy especially at lunchtime. About five tables but seemed like most folks ordered takeout. One star DEDUCTED for NO tap water NOR cups given….a ploy to force you to purchase drinks.

We ordered 4 of the same sandwiches since theres limited vegetarian options. we got 2 island veggies first which was to die for, it seemed like such a simple sandwich but it had a spicy sauce which you would taste in only certain bites and it was the perfect balance. the bread was really great too! we decided to take out 2 more of the same sandwiches to have it for lunch. im back home from hawaii but i still think about this sandwich.

Please don't order to go and head to the airport.... I have eaten at this location maybe a dozen times when they first opened (few years back), but it had been a while since I stopped in. Thought it was a good idea to grab 2 sandwiches before flying out with my s/o. I can't even really explain the odd feeling I got when walking in, but something felt off. Maybe that was my gut telling me not to eat from here? I was craving their veggies sandwich. Even though staff was polite, they were almost robotic. Like, I was concerned for them, but not sure if all is well within the business? Maybe just someone having a bad day, but it felt like everyone had just gotten yelled at and it was so quiet (other than sandwich orders called out) and just forced smiles on cashier faces. Anyway, took both sandwiches to HNL. I was absolutely starving, but waited until after TSA to dive in. Incredibly disappointing. No flavor, no nothing. Super bland. Unfortunately I had left or I would have politely handled it within the shop. I begrudgingly ate it because I was super hungry and had a long flight ahead of me. Check your food and ask plenty questions at the counter. I'm not sure why the taste was so bland. Picture on their board looked promising.

Awesome subs that goodfellow is delicious. I alwaysget multiplecause i won'tshare mine lol. Just wish when the charge more than $1 to add pickle chips to sandwiches the would actually put it. 3rd time charged totaling 5 subs charged and no pickles added. Think I'd learn to check it by now.

My soul is literally crushed. I drove 30 minutes to the Timmy T's on Valk after my run. I ordered a Da Vinny. Thought about how delicious it was going to be all the way on my 30 minute drive back home. Sat down and unwrapped my sandwich and it is not the Da Vinny. It's something with a lot of turkey and a ton of mayo and I can't eat mayo. I'm obsessed with Timmy T's and will probably come back and change the rating eventually, but right now I'm honestly so sad and bummed. No delicious salami, no salty capocollo, no tang sauce and shake - just gross wet goopy mayo. Guys whyyyyyyyyy, how could you do this to me!

Such a rip off. Got the goodfella with “lots of banana peppers”. The amount you see on each half cost me $3 extra? Only to start eating the sandwich and see they forgot tomatoes. They hardly use any meat and I paid $22 for the meal. As an East coast hoagie loving girl, I wanted to love this place but the value is just not there. You’re better off getting a sandwich from the commissary or subway.

Crazy bad value!!!!! $15.50 for a 8 inch sub (they only have one size) Roast Beef and Prov Lettuce Tomato Onion. You'd expect a foot long for that price. Then you unwrap the sandwich and there's one slice of meat and a small amount of cheese. So disappointed. I'll be sticking with Aloha K Sub.

The sandwich/sub is delicious and I enjoy coming here for lunch. I do have to take a star away just for the cost. It is a bit steep. $20ish in the end for 8" sub with drinks and chips. Toppings are additional $1-$2 each. Besides the cost everything else is good. Love getting the jumbo pickle to eat separately with the sub and the sub works well together. Overall if you are looking for a sandwich or sub this is the place to go. Just be ready to spend a little bit.

We got in around 10 this morning and the place was pretty empty. We were greeted right away by several employees and they were super patient with us while we decided on our sandwiches. As soon as we ordered each sandwich the cashier relayed it to the long line of workers who added components to the sandwich as it was passed down the line. After it was wrapped up they launched it with a delicate throw back to the front of the line behind the register--truly an impressive show of teamwork and efficiency. The food was delicious. It had the right amount of meat for our tweenager and our kid but I think next time my husband and I will opt to pay for extra meat. I have to say this is the best sandwich we've had on the island. We're from the mainland and we weren't used to such limited options in sandwiches but this compares to a few places we frequented back then. We liked how tasty the bread was though I have to mention my sandwich made me miss a dutch crunch loaf a bit. We could taste how fresh the rest of the ingredients are in the sandwich. My husband wished there was an option to add jalapenos but that's more preference than anything. Overall it was a really good meal that my entire family thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend coming here for your sandwich cravings.
