About
A Hidden Corner of Honolulu’s Waterfront
Tucked away near the bustling Honolulu harbor, The Row Bar serves as an understated sanctuary for those tired of the high-energy tourist traps. This is the kind of place where the air smells faintly of sea salt and chilled beer, providing a low-key escape from the mid-day heat of the downtown district.
The Experience
Walk inside and you will notice the worn wooden surfaces and the constant low hum of locals discussing sports or the morning surf report. It is stripped back and honest—no floral arrangements or polished mahogany here. If you prefer your happy hour with a side of authentic Honolulu chatter rather than a curated playlist, this is your spot. Just be prepared to navigate the limited, tight parking along the surrounding blocks; it is a small price to pay for the lack of pretense.
Local Flavor
The menu focuses on classic pub comfort. Expect ice-cold drafts paired with elevated bar staples like their signature crispy wings or local-style sliders that hit the spot after a long shift. The bartenders here have that classic island hospitality—quick with a pour and rarely shy about a conversation. Whether you are wrapping up a day at the office or simply wandering through the waterfront area, The Row Bar offers a slice of genuine life in the city, far removed from the polished facades of the nearby luxury resorts.

First-time visitor. There is a parking structure nearby, though it appears to be paid and I’m unsure if the restaurant offers validation. I ended up parking near Salt and walking over, which was an easy alternative. One important note: the outdoor seating is smoke-friendly. There were quite a few people enjoying cigars, so if you are sensitive to smoke or strong smells, this may not be the ideal spot for you.

Great bar to smoke a cigar. Seemed like a place with lots of regulars. Very nice selection of whiskeys. No food, but you can bring your own. Some semi covered areas to block the sun and rain.

This bar is fantastic! It’s the only open bar where you can smoke cigars. The waiters, Tiffany and Avry, are exceptional. The owners are incredibly polite. Dan, the owner, has extensive knowledge about the drinks. Plus, they have a large parking lot where you can park for free at night.

One of the few places close to Waikiki where one can still enjoy a cigar, an adult beverage, and watch sports (on one of their several TVs). Lots of parking. This open air bar has plenty of shelter from the sun, pleasant staff, and great ashtrays. If you are a cigar smoker, I highly recommend that you check this place out. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Sit at the bar or at tables...either option is great
