A Refreshing Escape Above Waikiki

Perched within the Hyatt Centric in the heart of Honolulu, The Lanai offers an open-air dining sanctuary that feels miles away from the sidewalk bustle of Seaside Avenue. As you step onto the terrace, the immediate sensation is one of relief—the breeze flows freely through the space, carrying the faint, salty scent of the Pacific just a few blocks away.

Island Flavors, Elevated

The menu focuses on modern Hawaiian fusion, highlighting local ingredients with a refined touch. Guests often rave about the signature ahi poke bowls and the creative cocktail program that leans heavily into house-made syrups and local tropical fruits. The chefs here emphasize the connection between farm and table, sourcing fresh catches from the nearby docks. If you appreciate a cocktail with a view, this is your go-to spot for a sunset pre-game before heading deeper into the Waikiki nightlife.

The Lay of the Land

The aesthetic is unmistakably contemporary, blending sleek lines with lush, hanging greenery that softens the concrete surroundings. It is a prime location for travelers who want to remain centrally located in the tourist hub without feeling boxed in by high-rise walls. A minor heads-up for those driving in: parking in this section of the city can be a challenge, so utilizing the hotel valet or walking from nearby accommodations is usually the smoothest path to your seat. Whether you are catching a golden hour drink or lingering over a relaxed evening meal, the atmosphere strikes a balance between upscale hospitality and the laid-back energy defining Honolulu life.

We used points for our stay. The location is central, the room is spacious and comfortable. I also like that they have a pretty big lobby area for people to sit. Con: Staying in a room by the elevator can be loud. Pillows are pretty flat and can use some more filling. The “pool” is only large enough for you to dip your feet in. I’m surprised the hotel this size doesn’t have an actual pool.

Hotel location is great, room is overpriced but that’s common in Waikiki area. Bathtub water coming out from the ceiling instead of shower head which is strange but that doesn’t bother us too much. What really absurd is the resort fee - USD48 extra per day and the daily activities in hotel which no one informed us during check in.

The hotel was very clean with welcoming and friendly staff. Lea, our room attendant was extremely friendly, was eager to create conversations, and did a thorough job every day. Highly recommend if you want an affordable option that is close to everything and has friendly atmosphere.

Great experience! Perfect for families with kids. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel! The staff is very kind, and the facilities are great. They offer beach gear and several activities for guests, which is a nice plus. Before booking, I saw comments about the pool's depth. As a parent with a small child, this was actually a positive factor for me. The pool is shallow, making it very safe, and my daughter loved it! The only minor point that could be improved is the cleanliness of the room floor, but it wasn't a big deal. On the other hand, the general cleanliness of the hotel and the bathrooms was excellent. Speaking of bathrooms, they are very good! I definitely recommend this place.

Pros - large room, very clean, large windows, decent mountain view - good location but with some street noise at night. - microwaves in common area, with filtered water throughout the hotel - bathrooms are decent size, and again clean and modern with Japanese bidet/toilet - appreciate the late checkout Cons - Shower only in a “deluxe “ room, and request for a room with a bathtub was declined. - limited services on the property - shallow pool, but you are still quite close to the ocean - onsite parking lot is poorly designed Overall - its ok and was good value for the price.
