The Grove Restaurant & Bar
About
Tropical Flavors in the Heart of Honolulu
Situated within the vibrant energy of Honolulu, The Grove Restaurant & Bar serves as a laid-back retreat for those seeking authentic local ingredients. The space manages to balance an open-air, breezy aesthetic with the sleek polish of a modern urban eatery. Expect to hear the clinking of glasses against a backdrop of soft Hawaiian melodies and the occasional hum of local foot traffic passing by the glass-fronted entrance.
A Menu Rooted in Local Bounty
The kitchen leans heavily into Hawaii's agricultural heritage, sourcing fresh produce and seafood directly from island farmers and fishermen. While the menu rotates to keep pace with the seasons, the chefs are known for elevating classic comfort food with refined techniques. You might find signature preparations that highlight the delicate sweetness of Kona Kampachi or the rich, earthy tones of locally grown taro. Each plate is assembled with an eye for color, making the dining experience as much a visual event as a culinary one.
Tips for the Honolulu Local
This spot is an excellent choice for a long lunch or a relaxed evening cocktail. Be aware that the space can get quite busy during the sunset hours, leading to a lively, high-decibel environment that is great for socializing but perhaps less ideal for whispered secrets. While street parking in this part of Honolulu can be notoriously scarce, the proximity to major pedestrian arteries makes it a convenient stop if you are already exploring the nearby urban core. Whether you are grabbing a quick drink at the bar or settling in for a full course meal, the hospitality here reflects the genuine, unhurried pace of life on Oahu.

Drinks were great and fun! We got the fish and chips, the fries tasted like they had sat out all day and then served to us, the fish was just OK. Cole slaw was not edible, very bitter.

Pleasantly surprised by this hotel restaurant and pool bar. The food is top quality and reasonably priced for a Waikiki hotel. Service is friendly and attentive. The only negative is that they’re closed by 7pm

Nice little Bistro adjacent to the pool in front of the harbor. Excellent food we went during breakfast so there was no table service other than food delivery. otherwise I would have given them a five star. They serve Starbucks coffee.

We went on thanksgiving day and they were open and were nice. I liked the ube pancakes (the cream was delicious) and the burrito was good. Good spot with nice view outside. Easy breakfast.

First time here. Food was just okay. The food was good but cold and seemed undercooked. The servers were great but the restaurant was lacking in esthetics that other similar restaurants have. Recommend choosing to another place while in Honolulu.

Located at The Modern Honolulu hotel, this pool bar offers meals that are average in taste but come at a higher price. But you can enjoy watching the sunset and experience a cozy atmosphere. The poolside at night is also highly recommended.

We sat down at 2:17 pm and had our food at 2:37 pm !! This was great. Short wait time. Great food. We got the Turkey sandwich. Words won’t do this excellent sandwich justice so I took a pic. Really friendly, professional and attentive wait-staff. We are staying at the Ilikai and had a horrible experience at the restaurant there. This is just next door on the same outside deck. We are back now for our second visit. They are just as efficient, polite and pleasant as yesterday. It really matters to management that customers are happy. I had two manager type people ask if I was ok or needed anything at different times. This was after we paid and moved to another table to clear up close to the bar. So they were being sincere and not trying to run us off. Very kind. That’s why we are back at this moment! Time to eat. We got the fish and chips. I’ll add pics if I remember before I inhale it!

Happy hour was way better than breakfast. The employees are all very nice, the tables are well-shaded and covered in case of rain (it did rain during happy hour), and we should've ordered 3 of the bao tacos! Breakfast was indoor, very clean, but the food was just okay.

If I could give it lower than 1 star I would. I don't typically take time to write a review, especially a bad one, but this place warrants it. Eggs tasted old, Avocado toast had no flavor and hashbrowns were not cooked. The place looked like a dirty cafeteria. For $50 breakfast we couldn't even stomach it and theww it in the trash. Don't come here, plenty of great choices nearby.

This was my second time eating here. I had a great time. I love their outdoor portion of their restaurant. There's a nice view of the ocean. You have ti pay for parking which was abiut $1 per hour. There were lots of birds flying around and 1 almost hit me. Lol. But other than that, I thought this was a great place. The food is amazing. I was surprised thst this place has hashbrowns. It's quite hard to find hashbrowns in Hawaii outside of McDonalds.
