The Dotted Line
About
Where Honolulu Meets Over Kalihi Coffee
Stepping into The Dotted Line feels less like a typical cafe and more like a high-design living room tucked away in the industrial heart of Honolulu. Located just far enough from the Waikiki crush to feel like a local secret, this space leans into a minimalist, clean aesthetic that makes it a favorite for remote workers and midday thinkers seeking a caffeine reset.
The Brew and the Bites
The menu here is deliberate. The Dotted Line centers its identity on high-quality pour-overs and rotating single-origin roasts that hit the palate with bright, acidic notes. If you find yourself here mid-morning, the selection of house-baked pastries often disappears before noon, particularly the seasonal scones that pair perfectly with their balanced, low-acidity cold brew. The kitchen focuses on simple, elevated breakfast toast options that prioritize crusty, local sourdough and fresh, island-grown toppings.
The Urban Pulse
The atmosphere is defined by the sharp clack of espresso machines and the hum of focused conversation. You won’t find excessive neon or kitschy island decor here; it is strictly functional and incredibly sleek. A small note for those planning a visit: power outlets are a hot commodity during the lunch rush, so arrive early if you plan on settling in with a laptop. Parking around the Kalihi area can be a bit of a dance, but the short walk to reach that first perfect sip is well worth the maneuvering.

Clif + Kim are the kind of folks you root for. The bar is a little corporate and sterile but that does NOT mean you should sleep on the cocktails + service! The charred daiquiri is balanced and wonderful for those who enjoy a touch of pineapple on the finish. Friendly, local aloha + hospitality — please give this establishment a try if you’re in the downtown / Chinatown area!

In town to be with my mom while in the hospital and my Uber driver told me about this wonderful restaurant! After eating salads for 9 day, I wanted to have a good meal so came to check it out! My server Kim was so attentive and the bartender was so friendly. They have Happy Hour every day from 3-6pm! Entertainment on Monday and Friday! I'm so glad I came here!! I look forward to leaving the hospital to have a great meal! Tonight was my 4th night having dinner here and look forward to tomorrow! The first picture, The Taste of Aloha fed me twice! The Karaage Chicken Bites were delicious and the sauce amazing! The 3rd night was the Smoked Ahi Dip with Sweet Potato Chips, and the 4th night was the Adult Happy Meal Tuna Melt! Fries were so good and hot and the prize was bazooka bubblegum!! Cant wait to come here again with my hubby in August!! Thanks Kim for your great service and your chefs for delicious meals 🤙🏽 Enjoy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dotted Line at the AC Hotel is a really cute spot! The vibes are awesome, and the drinks are solid—plus, they’re not crazy expensive. The staff is super friendly, which makes the whole experience feel even better. Definitely a great place to hang out for a drink or just relax. Husband had Patrol chilled and modelo beer. I had a traditional Mai tai super tasty.

Went in during happy hour for my last beer in Hawaii. Was informed that their draft system wasn’t working and they wouldn’t honor happy hour for canned beers. Unacceptable for any business.

I’m not sure why the reviews are so high. Last night we had lobster rolls (hard bread and very little meat). Salad was good but the fries were cold. This morning I ordered a Diet Pepsi and it didn’t have ANY CO2 so I bought cans from the hotel lobby and brought them in the restaurant. Breakfast was cold. They were out of both sausage and bacon so we ate mystery meat which was good, but also cold. Night bartender and atmosphere is phenomenal but don’t come here to eat.

Located in the new AC Hotel Honolulu in downtown, this place has become my favorite pau hana spot for drinks and light pupus with clients, colleagues and friends. Attentive service, nice ambiance, and live music starting at 4 p.m. Happy hour starts at 4 p.m. as well either drink and food specials. I’ll see you there. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
