A Waikiki Haven for Carnivores

Tucked within the vibrant pulse of Waikiki, The Butcher Bar by Aloha Steak House strips away the white-tablecloth pretense of traditional steakhouses, focusing instead on the primal connection between flame and protein. This is a space designed for those who appreciate the marbled intricacies of a dry-aged ribeye as much as a well-poured cocktail. The atmosphere leans into an industrial-chic aesthetic, where the low hum of conversation competes with the sizzle of high-heat sear stations.

Crafting the Perfect Cut

At the center of the menu is the restaurant's commitment to sourcing. Whether you are navigating the selection of premium cuts or looking for the perfect glass to pair with your dinner, the staff manages the floor with a localized expertise that feels both professional and accessible. The signature approach here involves precision temperature control, ensuring that every porterhouse or tenderloin arrives with a deep, caramelized crust while maintaining a buttery, uniform interior.

The Local Edge

While the menu is undoubtedly beef-centric, the drink program incorporates local flavors to balance the richness of the fat. Don't be surprised if the room feels intimate; the seating layout is designed for conversation rather than sprawling groups, meaning you’ll want to arrive early to avoid the tight squeeze during the dinner rush. The aroma of seasoned cast iron and oak-fired heat is constant, anchoring you in a dining experience that feels distinctly rooted in the Honolulu culinary scene. It is a no-nonsense spot for people who want their steak served hot, their whiskey neat, and the pretension left at the door.

This was a highlight for me as I was able to stop in during Happy Hour and grab their famous Bone Marrow Burger. The food was great as was the beer that I got for only $3 with the burger. The servers were friendly and the place was clean. I felt it was one of the best values at only $20us for a high tier Burger and a beer. Cheers

Great happy hour place just off to the side of Aloha Steak. Had the bone marrow burger, 1/2 wedge salad and a plate of house-made sausages. All were very good. Highly recommended. People and friendly and helpful as well.

Wow. Had no idea what we were going to experience. So happy I gambled on this place. The meat is beyond good, succulent, delicious, juicy and well paired with amazing cocktails. I can't recommend it enough for a Honolulu restaurant in a tourist area. Expensive for most, but worth it for the connosieur. Professional waiters and expert bartender. Quiet and calm Romantic if you have a lady to impress...

👥 1 pax Sunday afternoon, no reservations 🍽️ Bone marrow burger + draft beer (IPA) 💸 ~$25 incl. tip Pros: Top tier happy hour set deal that’s hard to beat in Waikiki. Beer was excellent, food was hot and fresh. Staff were friendly, and the space was clean and not too crowded (seats began filling up around 5pm). Cons: Expected a bit more flavour and juice from a burger of a steakhouse, but fantastic flavours nonetheless. Great fix for a happy hour, though may try the steak sandwich or other dishes for my next visit.

I had high hopes, it was disappointing, but I’d be willing to give it another try. It’s a bit hard to find, look for the “Marine Surf Waikiki” sign. I had the Butchers Cut Steak with a Caesar salad as side all on HH menu. The Caesar was watery with limited flavor, I wouldn’t have it again. The steak was various cuts with good flavor but too much, also all of the meat was well done which is a big turnoff. It comes out in a very hot cast iron already at medium + to well done. It would be much better if served rare to medium rare, and with less marinade. Let the meat speak for itself. The decor is a bit random, not my favorite, but the service was friendly and informative. I will try again because I like the sister restaurants Heavenly/Zigu and because of the service at the bar.

Very tasty steakhouse with fish choices as well. I was a bit disappointed that they did not have the small cut of ribeye but was satisfied with the KC bone in strip that I chose. It seems all beef is aged there and looks to be top quality. My wife went with the fish of the day and enjoyed the preparation and sauce. In addition we shared a refreshing watermelon salad to start. A nice little find in Waikiki where so many options seem overrun with tourists.

Tucked a few steps away from the Waikīkī strip, this is a hidden gem for foodies visiting Hawai’i. They literally have the best burger on the island— take it from someone who doesn’t even love meat as much as fish. It’s a small restaurant so make a reservation, but the vibes are great with real candles (not like those fake LED ones) and options for dining on the balcony/patio. The service was amazing, didn’t feel overly fake-nice but genuine warmth. If you’re not convinced, just look at the photos. P.s. not sponsored whatsoever lol who am I 😜

What a great fine I just happen to be going to a different restaurant across the street and saw this place and Bone Marrow burger as an option and I immediately decided to go here. The burger was exceptional. The meat had fantastic flavor and perfectly cooked. high-quality meat on a brioche bun with Swiss and bacon and comes with tallow fries! I mean come on you can’t beat this for 20 bucks and a happy hour Special of 17 dollars. I didn’t have any of the states, but they have a dry aged glass locker that’s amazing. If this burger is any indication of the quality of all the food here, I would come here and try everything on the menu. Chris’s service was great as well. This is the best burger you will eat in Waikiki

This is a small little auxiliary restaurant for the larger steakhouse next door, but they have great deals on both good regular steaks and dry-aged steaks, which you can see in their dry-aging fridges along the side of the restaurant. I came here twice for the happy hour 4-6pm to get a $3 draft beer and a $17 hone marrow burger, which is honestly one of if not the best burgers I've ever had from anywhere. It's so juicy and tender and flavorful. Fries are pretty good too, but yeah for $20 it makes a nice dinner out

Top-notch steakhouse food with great open air street-side gastropub atmosphere. Water is incredibly flavored, today it was orange and mint. Watermelon salad had true thoughtfulness in design: balsamic, feta, mint, and arugula; the perfect balance of many seemingly dichotomous flavors. We ordered the "Bartender's choice" with our favorite liquor, and they delivered delicious complexity in a drink that other bars either ignore or can't attain. We came for the bone marrow burger, and it did not disappoint - meat juices slightly absorbed into the bun, the burger was tender, no hard over-pressed meat block here, the onions and cheese reminiscent of french onion soup, and smokey applewood bacon. The Kona Coffee creme brulee (pictured) was the only thing I had time to take a picture of before it was devoured, but don't infer an inferior flavor: it also was well balanced: the toasted-marshmallow-flavored burnt sugar and dalgona whip make it the one and only treat you need to end the night on. Splitting hairs, we think the bacon may muddle the bone marrow flavor because the bacon is so flavorful, so we were delighted when they let us order it again (after devouring the first one) sans bacon but with lettuce, which I think allowed the bone marrow to lead, and added a crunch that doesn't overpower that bone marrow. Overall if they aren't on the list for a Michelin Star they should be. Service was amazing, the servers and bartenders were kind and attentive (Thank you Megan and Terry!) - we found our favorite Honolulu burger spot!
