Hibachi Excellence on University Avenue

Finding high-quality teppanyaki in the heart of Honolulu doesn’t always require a sit-down reservation. The Blue Truck Teppanyaki brings the sizzle of the flat-top grill directly to the streets near the University of Hawaii campus. You will immediately notice the distinct aroma of garlic butter and soy sauce wafting through the air as you approach the truck, cutting through the typical urban humidity.

The Experience

This is the definition of a grab-and-go feast tailored for students, local professionals, and anyone craving a fast, flame-kissed meal. The kitchen staff masters the art of high-heat cooking, charring chicken, steak, and shrimp to order. Expect your meal to arrive in a classic takeout container, steaming hot and packed with generous portions of fried rice and crisp, stir-fried vegetables. The rapid-fire sound of metal spatulas clinking against the steel grill provides a rhythmic soundtrack to your lunch break.

Why Locals Keep Coming Back

While the footprint is small and parking near University Avenue can be a bit of a challenge during peak afternoon hours, the efficiency of the service makes the minor hassle worthwhile. It is an ideal spot for those who want a hot, savory meal that skips the pretense of a formal dining room. Whether you are fueling up between lectures or looking for a quick bite before hitting the road, the bold, buttery profiles found here anchor it as a standout option in the local Honolulu food scene. Come prepared for a casual experience where the focus is entirely on the sear and the sauce.

December 2025 Arguably the most convenient and best food truck 🚚 park in downtown luxury row of Honolulu. Lots of varied options and culinary cultures to choose from

This place is great because it has a relaxed atmosphere and a large variety of foods to choose from. Restaurants in Waikiki are often full and have a wait, so coming here gives us options. We had garlic shrimp tacos from the Brazilian truck and they were delicious. The music played was a great vibe too.

Great place to check out when visiting this area. Variety of food options and good vibes. The lilikoi meat and shrimp with rice were very nice. I just wish I could get half a size for half the price..too much quantity.

It was a bit rainy, but other than that the experience was delightful. I recommend the Asian food truck! The crispy potstickers are delicious, and the chef will whip up something special for you if you know wjat flavors you want.

Lots of food trucks, our favourite was definitely blue water shrimp- we had the Hawaiian bbq chicken and garlic shrimp combo with the dole whip in a pineapple. The lady was very friendly and efficient. Live music was great, he was such a kind man, he made a point of coming over to chat with the kids.

The food truck park was a great stop with tons of variety, making it easy for everyone in our group to find something they liked. It’s very casual and relaxed, and a convenient place to grab a meal while exploring the area. We ended up coming here about five times during our trip, which really says a lot. At night it comes to life with a fun, lively atmosphere, and while it can get busy and lines can be long, that just adds to the energy. It’s also a great spot for the whole family; there are plenty of options, and kids can easily find something they’ll enjoy. One thing to keep in mind is parking: there’s no official lot, so parking can be a bit tricky, but street parking is available if you’re able to find a spot. Overall, it was one of our favorite places to eat and definitely a must-stop if you’re in the area.

We had food from a couple of different places here, everything was great. The two girls who run the food truck that make Argentinian food are friendly and the food is authentic and very good ! It’s the truck with “2400” on it. DO NOT PASS THIS TRUCK UP !!!! I have to say we are at half a dozen restaurants on the island and the food at the food truck park was superior !!! It is certainly a place everyone should go to at least a few times and try different things, you will not be disappointed !!!!

Our family of three visited Oahu for a week and we stayed at the Ritz Carlton Residence which is within a few minutes walking distance and have been frequently visiting the food truck park, Honolulu. Its definitely a vibe! Lots of culinary options to pick and choose from. Im vegetarian and the two trucks I highly recommend are the vietnamese/thai truck and the EarthAlohaEats truck which are across from eachother. My son and husband also ate at other trucks which served chicken shwarmas and also tacos. My son enjoyed the schwarma because he felt it was great quality ingredients. There are plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your meals. The only thing that I would say was a bit of a downer for me was that I didn't see a washing station, and the influx of flies were not so great..there were also flocks of birds looking for food droplets but I don't mind the birds as much as I do the flies. The food truck operators/cooks were friendly and the prices were reasonable for the amount of food being served. There were lots of families dining here with kids. Overall a GREAT EXPERIENCE-HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! MAHALO!!
