Sand, Surf, and Sunset Cocktails

Stepping into The Beach Bar is less about a formal meal and more about capturing that quintessential Honolulu state of mind. Located right on the sands of Waikiki, this open-air watering hole trades walls for the constant rhythmic pulse of the Pacific. You aren't here for white-tablecloth service; you are here to feel the salt air while a cooling trade wind distracts you from the humidity.

Iconic Sips with a View

The drink menu leans heavily into the classics that made Hawaiian hospitality famous. Whether you are ordering a signature Mai Tai, heavy on the dark rum float, or a local craft brew, the focus remains on simple, cold refreshment. While the menu occasionally leans into light island bites like crispy calamari or poke, the real star is the view of Diamond Head framing the horizon as the sky shifts from electric blue to deep magenta.

The Local Rhythm

Because this spot sits at the edge of the water, it draws a steady stream of barefoot tourists and locals looking for a quick sundowner. The soundscape here is a collision of crashing surf and the soft clinking of glassware, usually underscored by live acoustic guitar drifting over from the nearby Moana Surfrider grounds. Be warned: the foot traffic on the adjacent walkway can get quite dense during sunset hours, making it a high-energy spot if you prefer to people-watch rather than seek quiet seclusion.

It is the kind of place where your sandals get sandy and the ice in your glass melts faster than you expect. If you want the authentic, unpretentious Waikiki experience without the barrier of a formal dining room, this is your baseline for an evening in the heart of Honolulu.

Visited The Beach Bar Waikiki and had a really nice dinner by the beach 🌴✨ The steak plate was juicy and flavorful, and the fries and fresh salad matched perfectly with it 🍽️🔥 We also ordered purple smoothies, which looked super cute and tasted refreshing 😆💜 The atmosphere was relaxing, especially at night, and it felt like the perfect Waikiki experience. A great place to enjoy food, drinks, and the Hawaii vibe all at once 🌺🍹

Great oceanfront restaurant and bar. Very expensive, as is almost everything in Waikiki. Good or very good appetizers. Great margarita. Live music. Both bar seating and tables. Sunset and beach views. Highly recommend.

As far as views go, the view from the bar is priceless. I went solo for a quick drink. It was plenty busy but being a party of 1, I was able to belly up at the bar where I ordered (I think?!?) the Moana Sunset Mai Tai. The drink was quite good. The bartenders kept busy and were serving lots of folks but I was overlooked. Once served they continued to check in on me. The sunset was cloudy but can tell another night with no clouds would make this a breathtaking view. The price was in line if not on the high side of what cocktails cost in the area. Would be curious to try the food and give this place another try!

Visited on December 3 around 7 PM — absolutely unacceptable and dangerous. I am furious and deeply shocked by what happened. Our child was served water that had a strong, undeniable chemical/cleaning detergent smell. This is not a small mistake — this is a serious health hazard that could have caused real harm to a child. When we reported it, the staff simply apologized. No explanation. No urgency. No investigation. No manager stepping in. Nothing. How can a restaurant serve contaminated water to a child and then act as if it’s not a big deal? This level of negligence is outrageous. It shows a complete lack of safety protocols and accountability. Families trust restaurants to provide safe food and water — and this restaurant failed at the most basic level. Parents, please check your child’s water before they drink it. What happened to us could have ended much worse. I will not be returning, and I sincerely hope the management takes this incident seriously before someone gets hurt.

The Beach Bar at the Westin Moana Surfrider quickly became our favorite spot in Waikiki—we ended up hanging out there every single night! 🌴✨ The atmosphere is unbeatable with ocean views, a lively vibe, and the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. The drinks are incredible—our go-tos were the Lava Flow with a dark rum float (absolute perfection!) and the Lychee Martini, but you really can’t go wrong here. Their Mai Tai is also one of the best I’ve ever had. 🍹 The staff deserves a huge shout-out—they’re attentive, friendly, and make you feel right at home. On top of that, the food is just as amazing as the drinks. We tried several meals, but the Surf & Turf is a must-have. Delicious, perfectly cooked, and highly recommended! If you’re in Waikiki, don’t miss this spot. Great drinks, great food, great people—The Beach Bar is pure island magic. 🌺🌊

Time to hang out with friends at the beach bar. The place is in the hotel with beautiful and classy interior. Nice live music and the area outside is very casual. It was a party mix of people who live in Chinatown, Waialae - Kahala, NYC and Santiago CA. It was a fun night and catch up with longtime friends.

Lovely place to have a drink. One of the best places to watch the people on the beach swimming and having fun. and the big catamaran comming in put out. Very busy. My food was not good. at bowl of chips has a cup of garlic butter poured over the top. I couldn't eat them. The chips sat in a pool of fat. Atmosphere is beautiful if a big old hotel on the beach. Luxurious

Why rent an umbrella a chair, just sit and relax right next to the beach and have access to waves within steps. The burger is very good. Wine selection can be better. Live music by noon and Service is great!

The food at The Beach Bar was solid—nothing too fancy, but those portions were huge! The cocktails were fine and definitely helped set the vibe. The surprise vocals during the day were delightful, adding a nice touch to the atmosphere. And let’s talk about that view! Wow! The ocean was absolutely stunning, right there as you dine. I’d definitely go back and explore some new dishes next time!
