About
Low and Slow in the Heart of Honolulu
Finding genuine smokehouse flavor in the middle of urban Honolulu can be a challenge, but TEX 808 BBQ + Brews brings a refreshing, unpretentious approach to the local dining scene. This is a place built for those who appreciate the patience of true barbecue—the scent of hickory and mesquite hits you the moment you step through the doors, promising a meal that has spent hours in the smoker.
The Smokehouse Experience
The menu is anchored by classic Texas-style brisket that pulls apart with the slightest tug, and their smoked sausages offer a satisfying snap. While the flavors are rooted in Southern tradition, they balance the meal with sides that feel right at home on Oahu. Expect a bustling, high-energy environment; it’s loud, casual, and definitely not the place for a whispered conversation. The tables are communal and sturdy, designed to hold heavy trays of meat, pickles, and local craft brews.
Local Tips
It’s worth noting that seating can get tight during the dinner rush, so arrive early if you have a group. Parking in this part of town often requires a bit of patience, but the smell of slow-cooked pork ribs drifting out toward the sidewalk usually makes the hunt worthwhile. Whether you are craving a post-surf feast or a hearty lunch, this spot serves as a straightforward, no-frills refuge for meat lovers looking for a heavy-hitting meal away from the typical tourist tracks.

We ordered online to go, and the worker inside was friendly however, this food was not good at all. We read the reviews online prior to the visit. I should’ve known something was up the moment we pulled up and there was only one couple sitting in the restaurant. Giving the place the of benefit of the doubt, we came home and opened the plate and this is what we discovered brisket, sausage, and pulled pork all mushed together Let’s just say, the brisket was not falling apart at all. It was very rubbery and even pulling it apart you could see gristle. We are from Texas and this was not any type of brisket I’ve eaten before, even at mediocre places, this was straight up nasty. The sausage had an odd flavor and rubbery texture and the pulled pork tasted lightly salted and OK. There may have been two different cooks, cooking the brisket and the pulled pork. The macaroni cheese tasted like the pasta water that it was boiling in, and I don’t know what happened to the cheese and the coleslaw had no flavor. Tried feeding my two dogs the meat, but not they even like the brisket or sausage. We also got an order of banana pudding and that was nasty too. Tasted like box banana pudding, few slices of brown bananas, and mushy vanilla wafers. Quit eating right after tasting. I would NOT recommend eating at this place. The food was not good at all. Disappointed this place calls itself Texas BBQ.

Just about the worse BBQ I’ve ever had… be sure to come in for a great experience including are Ice cold Mac and cheese with flavorless , rubber brisket and what tastes like 2 day old turkey. Pulled pork is also dull and lacks any Smokey or BBQ flavor. Meals were incredibly expensive as well. 80 bucks to feed 3 people. Baked beans had okay flavor but were just complete mush, presumably from being old and on heat all day.

Brisket was good, but the potato salad didn’t have much flavor and the corn on the cob was dry and tough. Could have been an off day, so we may try again before making up our minds. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant.
