Tex 808 BBQ & Brews
About
Low and Slow in the Heart of Honolulu
When you step into Tex 808 BBQ & Brews, the first thing that hits you isn't the decor—it's the thick, sweet scent of kiawe wood smoke. This isn't your typical island fare; it's a dedicated smokehouse culture thriving right here in Honolulu. The space is casual and unpretentious, designed for people who prefer their hands a little messy and their plates piled high with brisket and St. Louis-style ribs.
The Meat-Forward Menu
Chef-driven technique is at the core of what they do. The brisket is the undisputed star, boasting that signature deep-pink smoke ring and a melt-in-your-mouth fat cap that suggests hours of patience in the smoker. You'll find their menu leans into high-quality protein, paired with classic sides like creamy mac salad and beans that provide a necessary bite against the richness of the pork. It's the kind of spot where the beer selection is curated specifically to cut through the rendered fat of their signature BBQ plates.
Local Vibe and Real Talk
The atmosphere is bustling, especially during peak lunch hours when office workers from across the local district crowd the counters. It can get loud, and the acoustic nature of the space means you’ll definitely hear the rhythmic chopping of brisket from the kitchen line. If you're planning a visit, be mindful that parking in this part of town can be a bit of a localized sport, so give yourself a few extra minutes to find a spot. Whether you're a BBQ purist or just looking for a hearty meal that hits differently than the standard plate lunch, Tex 808 brings a distinct, smoky flavor profile to the Oahu culinary landscape.

I have given this place several try's. Today was the last time. I spent 70 dollars for a pulled pork sandwich with tater tots, as well as a brisket meal with 2 sides plus, a half pound more of brisket, because of the small portion. I ordered corn on the cob, I got "canned corn" instead, Tater tots over cooked and over seasoned. Baked beans taste like it came out of a can. Pulled pork was ok, brisket size was small so I ordered a half pound more, thankfully the meat itself was "ok". The burnt ends of the brisket are my favorite part, and they were "inedible". Nothing to brag about. But for as much as I spent and for the quality of the food, then the service… As I waited patiently, everyone after me, kept walking in front of me, the employees saw me standing there first, I was not in their way, but I stayed out of the way across the bar. but the employees insisted on helping 3 other people before finally acknowledging me. Never again. At this point I am so angry I can't even eat the food. Thanks for wasting my time and money.

Really amazing marina view and patio. Staff are amazingly friendly and the food was great! A very pleasant lunch with even better views. The portions were generous and the onion rings were fantastic. The brisket on the loco moco was smokey and flavourful, and the batter on the fish and chips were crispy. Would recommend!
