Teddy's Bigger Burgers - Waikiki
About
A Local Favorite Near Waikiki Beach
When you find yourself craving a hearty meal after a long day of surfing or shopping along the Kalakaua Avenue corridor, Teddy's Bigger Burgers serves as the ultimate refueling station. This spot doesn't aim for white-tablecloth pretense; instead, it leans into the classic, greasy-spoon energy that defines a genuine Hawaiian burger run.
The Secret is in the Flame-Broiling
Founded by Ted Tsakiris and Rich Stula in the late 90s, this brand built its reputation on a 100% ground chuck patty, flame-broiled to order. The scent of char-grilled beef hits you the moment you step through the door, mingling with the aroma of their signature "Super Sauce." Whether you order the standard Bigger Burger or go for the spicy Teriyaki-glazed option—a nod to the local flavor profile—the meat is always cooked to a distinct, smoky finish.
The Waikiki Experience
The interior captures an authentic 1950s aesthetic, complete with bright pops of red and neon accents. It is a loud, bustling environment, best suited for families or friends looking for a quick bite rather than a quiet conversation. Be prepared for a tight squeeze, especially during peak lunch hours when the beach crowd funnels in looking for a reliable, no-fuss meal. If you prefer the salt air, grab your order to-go; the walk to the sand is short, and there is nothing quite like eating a double-stacked patty while watching the waves roll in at sunset. While finding a parking spot in this high-traffic Honolulu district can be a challenge, the consistent quality of the milkshakes and seasoned fries makes the hunt worth the effort.

Right by the beachfront with portions fit for a king, Teddy's is clearly a staple among Waikiki locals and tourists! We tried 2 vegan burgers and some milkshakes, and they were delightful! Crispy fries and really big drinks, it's a great stop with a wonderful wide open window view of Waikiki beach!

Really good and quick courteous service! We ordered online and it was ready exactly when the system said it would be, hot and fresh. We took it to-go across the street to Queen Kapi’olani park and enjoyed every bite while watching the mama chickens and this season’s little chicks root around. Very cute, and the food was great! Husband got the onion ring burger, son got the classic and I got the veggie burger. All excellent, I’ll spend forever trying to recreate that burger sauce omg. So good, mahalo Teddy’s!!

Had a big togo order with lots of burgers, shakes and fries. Brennan killed it. Gave us drink holders, extra ketchup, and tons of napkins (definitely needed for some of the messier burgers). The Ube haupia shake was pretty good, interesting flavor.

The guys ringing up food couldn’t be less helpful. The only menu in English is the one right behind the counter so when you get up there and don’t know what they’re selling, you ask the cashier what’s in something and they just tell you that “this is a good one…” not what I asked, but ok. Cost $51 for two told their smallest burgers, a fry and small drink. For some reason, the burger I got (that didn’t list tomato onion and honey mustard as ingredients) had honey mustard sprayed all over it so it was an absolute mess. Couple bites in, we find that our burgers are raw. Lived here for several years, just came back for a visit and Teddys has gone to hell. I’ll genuinely never spend a dime in one again.

If you come to Hawaii, you have got to eat at Teddy's Bigger Burgers. One of the best burgers I have had. I recommend the Hawaii Kai. Be prepared birds will join you for lunch lol.

The burgers were good, but would return here merely out of convenience rather than out of a must do. Not that the burgers were bad, they just were not head turning good. The fries lacked in flavor (I’d highly recommend a seasoned option). The service however was fantastic and in room dinning was nice especially near the windows. Pricing overall is average for Honolulu.

Among all the burgers I tried in Honolulu, this one stood out as my favorite. While most burgers there are consistently good, this one in particular had a bold, unmistakably American character, with rich flavors packed into every bite.

The customer service sucked! They have kiosks that you have to order from unless you are paying w/ cash, and there was 3 employees standing in the corber behind the counter that wanted nothing to do with us. It is connected to a hotel and the bathrooms are in the hotel loby, they were filthy! Ordered and paid and sat in the back where there is a lityle courtyard with a pool. This was the nicest part of the whole experience. Got the order and the burger was raw, and the bun was dripping grease. It was completely saturated! I think that it was just brcause it was in Waikiki and they have tons of tourists there, but it felt like the employees didn't give a rip if we were there or not. Not very welcoming and then the food was horrible on top of it. I was very disappointed! A week prior we had eaten at the Teddy's in Aiea and it was fantastic! Loved the food and got treated very well by the staff.

Worst burger in my life. Huge disappointment and a shame on the Teddy name. Go to the Hawaii Kai branch, not here. 1. The cashier didn't know their own menu; I had to take a photo of the kiosk to show them what I wanted. 2. The tables were dirty and covered on food; had to go to the way back to find one not gross. Literally the table next to us had all the trash from the last person and the receipt showed it had been there for over an hour. The staff of course were hanging around chatting, despite having barely any customers. 3. The food was abysmal. It was a regular bigger burger and the bun was cold, the patty was too undercooked, and it was literally soaking wet; it dripped so much it ran down my wife's arm and pooled in the plate and on the table. I only got a photo of the pool in my plate, after she handed it to me. My poor wife ate half until she had me try it and that's when I realized how bad it was. Just awful; worst burger experience ever and nobody should go here until they get their act together.

One of Hawaii's favorite burger, but I believe it can't reach to In N Out, shake shake, and especially Five guys. But recommend to visit once at least.
