A Quick Bite in the Heart of Downtown Honolulu

Located right in the hustle of Bishop Square, Taco Kabana serves as a reliable pitstop for office workers and urban explorers needing a quick Mexican-inspired fix. The open-air layout captures the breezy, casual spirit of the Financial District, making it an ideal spot to grab a bite between meetings or while navigating the city center.

Bold Flavors and Local Favorites

The kitchen leans into familiar comfort foods, featuring everything from flame-grilled fajita plates to hearty breakfast tacos. The scent of charred peppers and seasoned meats often carries out onto the sidewalk, drawing in a steady stream of locals during the lunch rush. Their signature flour tortillas are a staple, often served warm and soft, providing the foundation for their hefty portion sizes. It is the kind of place where simplicity reigns supreme; don't expect white-tablecloth service, just consistent, savory Tex-Mex staples delivered with speed.

The Downtown Urban Experience

Be prepared for the fast-paced nature of the area—the lunch line can stretch toward the entrance during peak hours, and finding a vacant stool in the common seating area requires a bit of tactical patience. It is inherently loud and active, echoing the energy of the surrounding high-rises. Whether you are looking to fuel up before a coastal drive or just need a satisfying, no-frills meal in downtown Honolulu, this spot delivers the heat and spice without the pretense.

I was craving taco since yesterday...was walking in town after a business today and came across Taco Kabana. I ordered the beef tostada, chicken nacho fries and chips/salsa. All were deliciously prepared and nice propotions. I wasn't that hungry (it was a lot) but I wanted to try more than one dish. I gotta say, if you like Mexican food, you gotta try this place .. it's ono.🤤😋

Was taking a stroll on Bishop and none of the other places seemed appealing. The vibe and line coming from Taco Kabana is what drew me in. The friendly staff was so inviting. I didnt know what I wanted...so I told him to serve me their most popular dish. It was the steak quesadilla and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Lots of savory meat and cheese. The filling portion was just right! Also, this one quesadilla was enough for 2 meals! The price was pretty amazing as well..$13 i think. Definitely stopping by here next time I am in the area! Thanks guys!

I usually love the veggie burrito at this place but today was an exception. When I opened the wrapper, I discovered that the burrito was burnt (pics attached). I wish you could be honest with your customers.

If you wanna get some Mexican food in downtown for lunch, this might satisfy your craving. They got a good selection of protein and types of food like quesadilla, salad, tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, even chimichangas! I got the chicken, fish and steak tacos. The flavor was pretty good, but I had to not treat it like Mexican food to enjoy the meal… I’m not sure why the tomatoes and onions were so coarsely chopped up. They looked like vegetables ready for stir fry not for toppings in Mexican food. Then the sauce they drizzle on top tasted interesting, but glad there’s some salsa verde in a separate container to eat my food with. The fish was seasoned well, but it’s very soft and just broke apart when I picked up the taco. Didn’t seem the be the right kind of fish to be used in tacos. The steak and the chicken meat were good. I mean I finished all my food. They tasted decent. Not too salty or sweet, nor underwhelming or overpowering in any sort. If you go in not thinking it’s Mexican food, then you wouldn’t be disappointed. The place had quite a few tables and it’s packed during lunchtime. There was an empty table that no one took. I didn’t get why until I sat down and realized the light underneath the spinning fan was shining on the table like a strobe light. I didn’t wanna get a seizure while I was eating so I moved to the counter standing area by the window to eat my food. Overall, ok, not bad. There definitely could be room for improvement. If they could do that, I’m sure there would be more people visiting.

Authentic Mexican! This is the Beef Burrito Bowl… all rice, no beans, no sour cream. Absolutely delicious!! The beef tender and generous. I am in LOVE with this! Salsa verde was spicy, but not overwhelming. I work across the street so I call in my order right before I walk over. They tend to be very busy!
