Taco Bell - Honolulu (Waialae Ave)
About
Late Night Cravings in the Heart of Kaimuki
When the sun sets over Diamond Head and you find yourself cruising through the Kaimuki neighborhood, the familiar purple bell glows as a reliable beacon for those seeking a quick, satisfying bite. Located right along the bustling Waialae Avenue corridor, this spot serves as a go-to anchor for students and locals who need something fast without the fuss of a sit-down meal.
The Experience
The space is built for utility. You will notice the familiar sizzle of the flat-top grill and the scent of seasoned ground beef hitting the air the moment you walk through the doors. Whether you are grabbing a classic Crunchy Taco or experimenting with the latest Cantina Chicken menu items, the preparation is efficient and consistent. It is a no-frills environment, perfect for a post-surf snack or a late-night recharge after hitting the bars nearby.
Local Observations
Navigating the parking lot here can be a bit of a challenge during peak lunch hours due to the heavy traffic flow on Waialae, so keep that in mind if you are planning to dine in. However, the quick-turnaround service makes it easy to grab your order to go and head toward the nearby parks for a picnic. It is the definition of convenient Honolulu dining when the hunger hits and the options are limited.
What to Expect
The menu highlights remain the staple favorites: the Cheesy Gordita Crunch and the classic Bean Burrito. If you are a fan of customization, the mobile ordering kiosks speed up the process significantly, allowing you to tweak your ingredients just the way you like them. This isn't fine dining, but it is an essential part of the local fast-food circuit, providing a reliable fuel stop in one of Honolulu’s most vibrant communities.

A little busy, but nothing crazy. The food here feels like it was actually made correctly which is unheard of from taco bell these days lol.

It’s an average Taco Bell, but I do wish they were more staffed as it’s evident when you walk in that they aren’t prepared for rushes. I’m a frequent visitor and it takes a little for my order to be ready, but I wouldn’t blame the employees because they are trying their hardest.

Waiting 20 minutes for your order, while watching and listening to the food prep staff talk story, laugh, and have fun is ridiculous. And seeing gthem kick food storage was also not something to see. The poor young man at the counter had to deal other with unhappy customers that waited too long. Unacceptable! The manager played around too. This was at the Kahala Mall Taco Bell, 01/18/2026,@ approx 3:25 pm to 3:44 pm.

Lady at the counter in the PM is a sweetheart and food is decent for Taco Bell but wow this place gets busy and isn’t really equipped for it. I’m waiting 30+ minutes for a small mobile order

Staff here look so angry like they just wanna cook and bring food out and not want to talk to any customers. Please put a sign to use the kiosk only. Also too many birds from outside cone in and poop on the floor.

My wife and I visited Honolulu for the third time, and on all three occasions, we ate often at Taco Bell in the Kahala Mall. We love the burritos and soft tacos. The staff was always very friendly and helpful, even speaking to me in Spanish when they discovered that was my language. They always made us feel welcome. Kudos to them.

Food is fine. It’s a Taco Bell. The employees could stand to be less awkward. I was waiting at the mobile order pick up counter, trying to get somebody’s attention. The employee at the register was avoiding eye contact with me, even though there was nobody in his line. Very helpful.
