Sweet Home Cafe Waikiki
About
A Slice of Taiwan in the Heart of Waikiki
Tucked away from the bustling surf breaks of Honolulu, Sweet Home Cafe brings the communal joy of Taiwanese hot pot to the islands. This spot is a local favorite for those craving a customizable dining experience where you dictate the pace. The air inside is perpetually fragrant with the steam of bubbling broths, creating a warm contrast to the breezy tropical evenings outside.
Customized Comfort
The menu centers on a personal pot setup, allowing you to select your preferred soup base—ranging from the signature herbal concoctions to spicy, numbing Sichuan-inspired broths. Whether you are piling your table with thinly sliced ribeye, fresh local greens, or handmade shrimp paste, the process is tactile and engaging. It’s an ideal setting for groups of friends looking to share a long, slow meal after a day at the beach.
The Details That Define the Experience
Part of the charm here involves a bit of patience, as the popularity of the space means the dining room can get quite loud and packed during peak hours. You will find yourself elbow-to-elbow with regulars enjoying the complimentary shaved ice dessert, a sweet, icy finish that cleanses the palate after the richness of the hot pot. While the parking in this corner of the city requires a bit of maneuvering, the ability to tailor your own dipping sauces at the self-serve station—balancing shacha sauce, garlic, and cilantro to your exact liking—makes the trek worthwhile. This is not a place for a quiet business meeting; it is a lively, high-energy environment built for laughter, steam-filled glasses, and deep-cut conversations over simmering pots.

Went here for dinner with my husband and brother in law since we somehow got sick in our vacation and needed some soup. Got three different kinds of broth since we all wanted something different. Got plenty of delicious veggies and pork and beef to go along with it. I honestly was good with the bone broth and all the veggies but the meat was also great! A little tip we didn't know before going in: they will let you take your leftovers home! Basically got 6 meals for $90 (after tip of course). I highly recommend this place for your next dinner. Extremely friendly staff and they are so helpful if you've never had hot pot before! Whenever we come back to Oahu, we will be coming back.

We found this place by accident, but it was one of the best places we ate in Honolulu. It's vegan friendly, great fun, sociable eating, super tasty and the staff are really friendly. It's also great value in a resort where it's easy to spend $50 on a quick snack!

Prob my favorite hot pot in Honolulu. The house special broth is a great start. Beef tongue is good. They have a good selection of greens and meats to choose from and a complementary sauce bar. Free desert if you done for over and hour. Pay by the color of the plates you choose.

Healthy and Delicious! Choose your broth and meat, then your vegetables. The Taiwanese style shaved ice is complimentary at the end of the meal! Hidden gem. Servers are awesome!

Love this cafe! Very interesting concept! You can choose a few different broths and ingredients to create your own soup. It’s not just eating, it’s an entertainment. Really cool place to spend time with friends.

Great hotpot and great service!! So many broths to choose from. Lots of good side dishes as well. Their beef, lamb, and shrimp were good. Didn't have any other proteins. Veggies were fresh and clean. Beer was cheap. What more can you ask for!
