About
A Minimalist Slice of Japan in Kaka'ako
Stepping into @Sushi feels less like walking into a crowded Honolulu dining room and more like entering a quiet, wood-paneled sanctuary tucked away from the coastal hustle. This spot has built a quiet reputation among local food enthusiasts for its focus on simplicity and high-quality seafood.
The Art of the Cut
The culinary philosophy here centers on the purity of the catch. The chefs handle their knives with surgical precision, turning out pristine cuts of hamachi and maguro that practically melt on the tongue. Their signature omakase experience is the main draw, guiding diners through a progression of seasonal bites where the vinegared rice—warmed just slightly—acts as the perfect foundation for fatty toro and sweet amaebi.
Sensory Details and Local Flavor
Expect a clean, slightly sterile aesthetic that lets the food take center stage. The kitchen is visible, and the faint, rhythmic sound of a sharp blade hitting a wooden cutting board punctuates the quiet chatter of the room. It’s an ideal setting for a focused date night or an intimate celebration where the conversation can actually flow without shouting over heavy background music.
A quick heads-up for those heading over: parking in this section of town can be a bit of a puzzle during peak evening hours, so arrive a few minutes early to secure a spot nearby. The service is efficient and attentive without being intrusive, maintaining that classic, disciplined style of hospitality found in traditional sushi bars. Whether you are a fan of traditional Edomae-style preparations or simply looking for the freshest fish in the Pacific, @Sushi offers a balanced experience that keeps the focus exactly where it belongs: on the plate.

A sushi Omakase that consistently delivers beyond expectations — always reliable and impressive. It’s BYOB, so bring your favorite drink and enjoy it with some great sushi.

I've been to 5+ omakase in SF, @sushi ties first place with one of them, easily beats the rest. And at $150pp it's a steal. Every piece of sushi and every dish tastes amazing. Fish is without question top quality. I've never had such tender blue fin tuna, melts in your mouth just like chu-toro. I also love the seasoning. Very surprised this place isn't more popular. Was able to get a Saturday reservation ~ 1 month in advance. I will definitely be back the next time I visit Oahu.
