A Off the Waikiki Strip

When the sun sets behind the Pacific and the neon lights of Honolulu begin to hum, Sushi Spot Waikiki offers a necessary reprieve from the high-octane tourist traffic. This intimate counter-style eatery focuses on the essentials: sharp knives, pristine fish, and a rhythm that feels more like a local clubhouse than a standard hotel-adjacent spot.

The Omakase Experience

The menu highlights the day’s best catches, often featuring local Ahi tuna that arrives with a firm, buttery texture impossible to find in mainland shipping lanes. The chef’s approach favors traditional Edomae techniques, meaning each piece of nigiri is brushed with a precise amount of house-made nikiri soy, removing the need for patrons to dip their pieces into additional bowls. You will hear the rhythmic "thwack" of the knife against wood and the occasional hiss of the rice cooker, providing an authentic soundtrack to your meal.

Things to Know Before You Go

Space is at a premium here. With only a handful of seats available, the interior can feel quite cozy, especially when the evening rush hits. You might find yourself shoulder-to-shoulder with residents who have been coming here for years, creating an atmosphere that is far more genuine than the surrounding resorts. Parking in this part of Honolulu is notoriously tricky, so grabbing a ride-share or enjoying a brisk walk through the nearby streets is highly recommended. It is the ideal stop for solo diners or couples who prefer high-quality sashimi over elaborate, sauce-heavy rolls.

Cherry Blossom sushi was some of the best sushi I have ever tasted ! The Diamondhead Poke sushi I wasn’t crazy as much but was also my first time having Poke. The California roll under the poke was very good though. I do wish the prices were a bit cheaper but the service is wonderful! Waitress walked us out the door and even bowed and said thank you in Japanese❤️ I loved that since I recently visited Japan and appreciate that gratefulness and pride in service they have!

I really enjoyed eating here, I went at dinner time and was seated almost immediately. The service was super friendly and fast. Once I ordered the food came really quickly. You can order on your phone which makes things really easy. I got a sushi roll and the bulgogi plate which came with rice. I also got wine and some edamame. It was filling and delicious. Def recommend checking it out!

A delightful dinner with a friend at this absolute gem. We began by sharing the Sushi Deluxe Combo, and I couldn’t resist adding the Kaisen Futomaki and the Hangover Ramen. From the very first bite, it was clear: this is a restaurant that lets pristine ingredients sing.. Every element feels handpicked and meticulously curated. The fish was fresh—silken textures, immaculate cuts, and a purity of flavor that needs no embellishment. Each piece arrived with understated elegance. The flavors didn’t shout; they unfolded—clean, precise, and harmoniously layered—creating a beautiful mélange where each ingredient found its voice. The Kaisen Futomaki was a standout, a generous, jewel-toned roll with balance and depth in every bite. And the Hangover Ramen was exactly what I craved, hearty and rich, yet never heavy or oily. The ambiance mirrors the culinary philosophy: minimalistic, clean, and quietly confident, allowing you to focus on what truly matters—the freshness, the craftsmanship, the subtle details that elevate the experience. This isn’t a bargain spot, and it shouldn’t be. The quality of the ingredients and the care in execution make every dollar feel well spent.
