About
A Masterclass in Edomae Precision
Stepping into Sushi Ogame, the frantic pace of Honolulu melts away. This intimate counter-seating establishment focuses purely on the art of Edomae-style sushi. Chef Ogame oversees the small space with a quiet intensity, preparing each piece of nigiri with precise, calculated movements that command the room's attention.
The Omakase Journey
The menu is an evolving expression of seasonal fish, largely sourced directly from Japan's Toyosu Market. You will encounter textures that are difficult to find elsewhere on the island, such as firm, sweet kohada or the melt-in-your-mouth richness of fatty tuna glazed with a delicate brush of house-made nikiri soy. The rice, seasoned with a distinct red vinegar (akazu), provides a sharp, earthy contrast to the seafood, elevating the flavor profile of every bite.
Atmosphere and Local Nuance
The space is minimalist and serene, ideal for those who prefer their dining experiences without distraction. It is a quiet sanctuary, so expect a reserved volume; this is not the place for boisterous group dinners. Be mindful that the limited seating capacity requires booking well in advance, and the tucked-away location near the heart of Waikiki can make street parking a bit of a puzzle. If you value craftsmanship over culinary theatrics, the focused, meditative environment here offers one of the most authentic raw fish experiences in Hawaii.

Ogame and Hao were friendly and the omakase was very good! However, you’re in a small space and it was 91 degrees in the restaurant, which really hampered the experience.

Hidden behind a black curtain is a private omakase experience with Chef Ogame. The sushi is exeptional, and I dare say, perfect. The freshness, the cut, the temperature, the rice, the perfectly seasoned and sauced courses, and the intelligent progression. Authentic experience. Respectful service. I will be back soon!

THE new omakase spot to go to! Right on the busy and bustling streets of Kuhio Avenue, there’s a variety of eateries to choose from… but I highly recommend this place of all the restaurants!! The scallop was so sweet… chutoro was so buttery…. the ikura and uni tasted so so fresh. I could go on about how delicious everything was… just unbelievable. I can’t wait to enjoy Chef Ogame’s Omakase again soon 😜
