About
A Local Staple in the Heart of Honolulu
Stepping into Sunny Mart, you aren't just walking into a convenience store; you are entering a cornerstone of Honolulu culture. This neighborhood spot is defined by its unassuming exterior and the immediate, savory aroma of freshly prepared grab-and-go meals that drift through the aisles. For residents across the island, it represents the quintessential quick bite that tastes like a home-cooked lunch.
What to Expect on the Counter
The culinary focus here is firmly on Hawaii’s comfort food staples. Locals flock to the deli section for their signature Spam musubi, wrapped tight with just the right ratio of savory soy-glaze to sticky, medium-grain rice. If you are lucky enough to arrive when the kitchen is actively prepping, you will hear the rhythmic chopping and the hiss of the griddle, signaling that the daily rotation of bento boxes and hot plate lunches is coming out fresh.
The Practical Side of Island Convenience
The space is functional and efficient, designed for the busy professional or the beachgoer stocking up for a day at Waikiki or Ala Moana. Be prepared for a bit of a challenge if you are driving, as parking can get tight during the busy lunch rush when the local crowd descends for their favorite chicken katsu or shoyu pork bowls. It is a no-frills, high-flavor environment where the focus is entirely on keeping the neighborhood well-fed without the pretension of a traditional sit-down establishment.

So when you pay with your card you can't use debit they say use credit but they don't tell you they charging you extra for credit. When I tried hitting debit it didn't go through at all. Now they have non cash adj added on your receipt if you use a card and so they can make money off of people who aren't paying with cash , they removing the atm so we can't pull out cash to pay them and avoid the non cash adj fees. Such greedy punks. I actually give it no stars .

I always go shopping here. Tbh I love supporting small business because I know the struggle. So today at 8:51pm the cashier charged me extra on something I didn’t buy, and believe me this is not the first time this happened. I went and confront the cashier and she was confused about it. I know for sure they are ripping off people for not giving them the exact recipes for the amount of stuff they buy. So disappointed and if it ever happened I will let the police handle it and will sue them. So watch out for what you pay and check your account.

Great local store carrying all kinds of stuff! We saw their facebook post for steaks and stopped in. Steaks were great! they also had all kinds of other meats that we will have to try next time. Hot food was also very good. , very clean and lots of options. All of these stores charge by weight and so far this store was the cheapest compared to the others. Food was fresh, hot and clean. Service was good.
