Subway - Honolulu (Hickam Shoppette)
About
Fuel Up Near the Flight Line
Convenience is the name of the game at the Hickam Shoppette location in Honolulu. Situated right on base, this spot serves as a reliable pit stop for service members and personnel needing a quick, customizable lunch between shifts or a fast dinner before heading home. You’ll find the familiar, assembly-line efficiency that makes grabbing a sub easy when time is in short supply.
The Classic Build
Whether you are craving a standard Turkey Breast sub or looking to load up on the Spicy Italian, the menu remains true to the brand's global standards. The scent of freshly baked Italian Herbs & Cheese bread often greets you the moment you walk through the doors, a welcome aroma for anyone looking to step away from MREs or mess hall options. It is a straightforward, no-frills experience: pick your proteins, pile on the crisp veggies, and finish with a drizzle of oil and vinegar.
Proximity Perks and Practical Realities
This location shines because of its accessibility for those navigating the Pearl Harbor-Hickam corridor. While the dining space is functional and designed for high-traffic throughput, keep in mind that peak lunch hours can create a line that snakes toward the Shoppette entrance. If you catch it during a shift change, be prepared to wait a few minutes, but the staff typically keeps the workflow moving quickly. It’s the ideal choice for those who value speed and predictability over a slow, sit-down dining environment. It’s not a destination for date night, but it is an essential resource for getting a substantial meal in your hand before you head back to the office or the hangar.

Despite the recent negative reviews here.. I had a great experience. Service was great and the sandwich was great and the ingredients seemed fresh. Price was a little wild though, it was $19 for a foot long pastrami with chips and soda. Its been several years since I've had Subway though so I'm not sure if thats the normal price everywhere else.

The last two times i’ve been to this subway, they’ve messed up my sandwiches, they act like each customer is a inconvenience to them and they don’t listen. When i went in the first time and told them my sandwich was wrong they said there was nothing they could do since it was already made (re-make it maybe?) the second time i asked for a italian foot long and they said they had wheat and white so i said white was fine. they continued to only give me a six inch and when i corrected them they looked annoyed and gave me the other six inches and wheat. then proceeded to toast it after i said not too. Never going back to this subway again. and honestly you should avoid it too

Two young ladies working. One went into the back while the other took my order. Kept talking over me and rushing me while I was trying to give my bread orders. This caused her to put the wrong meats on the wrong bread and then get mad at me when I asked for the correct sandwiches. Had an attitude the entire time. I worked at subway for years. I know how to order. Stop trying to group sandwiches together and anticipating what someone's going to say then talking over them, and you'll have an easier time working there... It's not hard. First negative experience I've had on this island so thanks for popping my cherry I guess.

This subway rocked. I got fresh bread luckily, and the rest was all staff. The girl changed her gloves while my food toasted and had to do other things!!! She was very clean about things, and I loved it. I don’t like when subway staff keeps gloves on the whole time but does other things but this girl knew what to do! The kitchen looks very clean as well. My sandwich was made PERFECTLY, just the best subway I’ve ever had. The staff was also friendly!! And somehow it got betted.. I got TWO white chip cookies with no nasty macadamia nuts!!! Fulfilled my pregnancy craving PERFECTLY!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the second time I’ve gone to this subway and the employees have a serious attitude problem. Just plain rude. I asked the lady to warm my cookies up and she put them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Everyone knows that’s going to over cook them. So when I asked for some other cookies she had an attitude like it wasnt her fault they were burnt in the first place. Completed unprofessional
