A Slice of Seoul in Salt Lake

Located just a stone's throw from the iconic Aloha Stadium site, Stadium Camellia Restaurant serves as a cornerstone of Honolulu’s Korean dining scene. This is the spot where locals head when they crave the sizzle of charcoal and the pungent, comforting aroma of fermenting kimchi. The space favors function over flash, featuring tabletop grills that keep the conversation lively and the air thick with the scent of searing marinated short ribs.

The Art of the Galbi

The signature here is undoubtedly the kalbi. These thin-cut beef short ribs arrive glistening with a sweet, soy-based glaze that caramelizes instantly upon contact with the heat. It is a messy, hands-on experience, best shared with a group of friends who don't mind a little extra smoke on their clothes. Alongside the meat, the kitchen turns out a steady stream of banchan—small, complimentary plates of spicy cucumber, bean sprouts, and pickled radish that provide a refreshing, acidic contrast to the rich proteins.

What to Expect

If you find yourself navigating the busy streets of the Salt Lake neighborhood, be prepared for a bit of a hunt for parking during peak dinner hours. The service is brisk and efficient, characteristic of a place that prioritizes volume and authentic flavor profiles over white-tablecloth pretense. While the sound levels can climb as the room fills with hungry patrons, that energy is part of the charm. It is an ideal destination for those who want a hearty, no-nonsense meal after a long day or a pre-event gathering. Don’t expect quiet intimacy; expect a robust, communal feast that feels like a genuine Honolulu staple.

Good selection of meats and vegetables. I think their kimchee stew is one of the best I've tasted and I would come here specifically for that. I gave only 3 stars for atmosphere because they don't have vents for the smoke so it kinda gets sticky/slippery on the floor and chairs. Other than that Camellia is one of my top choices for Korean bbq.

This is going to be one of those posts where everything is overwhelmingly positive and hard to believe but true. I have always had positive experiences from this place, and I have found the freshness and quality of the food being very much worth the premium price. The staff have been very attentive and friendly, the food has always been fresh and delicious, and the selections are amazing! This is my go-to place for special occasions, without hesitation. I love the experience of being able to cook my own food, as well as enjoy the atmosphere of others enjoying the same experience, too. Best gogi-gau (yakiniku / tabletop grill) place I've been to! Thanks for all of the great food and memories!

Good food, and good service for this low-key, casual ayce. Dinner was $77 for 2. Good price nowadays for ayce. Definitely felt stuffed after eating so much bbq meat! The bad: parking is a challenge after 5pm. No alcohol served, but does allow byob.

Needed to find a new AYCE kbbq place outside of town, and boy does Stadium Camellia not disappoint! We arrived around 545p on a Sunday and needed to wait about 15 mins for a party of 2. Even with an earlier dinner time, the restaurant was packed! Recommend calling in to make a reservation. On just sitting and waiting, we saw 3 servers who were running around taking orders, serving, replace grills, non-stop. Even the owners pitched in here and there to turn around tables or bring out food ingredients. Roomy space with lots of ceiling vents to make it less smoky. On to the food - the quality of the meats were pretty good. My favorite was the kalbi and garlic pork belly (wowowow was it garlicky 😁, sorry for my breath afterwards lol). The servers weren't shy with the portion sizes or checkin in to see if we wanted to place more orders in. For pupus, we had the karaage, mandoo, japchae, and kimchi stew which were all pretty good and came out nice and hot. Next time I'll try some of the fried calamari, as lots of tables had that. Banchan was placed at the table once seated and were pretty good (and refillable). Be sure to ask for raw garlic and jalapeños to throw on the grill. The closing dessert of samurai blue vanilla ice cream, although super full at that point, was a great close to the meal. What really won me over was how sharp the scissors were to cut up the meats. It's the little things, cause my pet peeve is when you get blunt scissors that you have to hack through and don't cut - these snipped so smoothly. One con is that they don't serve single diners. Overall looking forward to our next visit. They have some specials, like birthday, seniors, and military on certain days.

Great Korean BBQ buffet. We had the dinner menu and there were plenty of choices for everyone in our group. I personally enjoyed the kalbi and melon flavor dessert soft serve the most.

One of very few local family owned Korean BBQ buffet restaurants on the island. You cannot dine in alone. Must be 2 or more. I love the spicy chicken. The kalbi is also tasty. If you are bulking this is a great spot. They have good dipping sauce options. Recommended the chilli and garlic one if you like a little heat spice to it. Doesn't include a drink besides water so it's extra. Great service although they seem short staffed. Plenty of free parking.

Pretty good experience here today! I love an all you can eat Korean BBQ experience and they delivered. The service was absolutely excellent and left nothing to be desired. They didn't have the buffet like many of the photos showed, but they did basically just have a table service where they'd come by and take orders for whatever you wanted on the menu, so it wasn't too bad. You get 4 meats per order and we left full! We'll be back!

We went here for lunch on my mother's birthday. She's in a wheelchair and it surprised us that they had a table ready for her. Not only was the food quality more than what we expected the customer service was far beyond our expectations. I also loved the story the owner shared about her father. It was his wishes that their prices remains below the price of a kalbi mixed place because they've been blessed with so much. They don't take reservations so I do recommend coming early especially if you have a party of 5 or more and if I read correctly they only allow Monday - Friday for people eating alone. If a person isn't eating in your party notify the server ASAP to avoid any possible issues. They do have discounts for birthdays but must show a valid ID and person's of 90 years of age or older eats for free! Barley tea is free as well. It packs a lot of great benefits so why not. My mother and I loved it so much we're definitely going back when we have a craving for Korean BBQ. The banchans are all prepared by them and it's so delicious! My mother asked if they sold the radish kimchi but they don't lol that was her only disappointment 😂

We went and tried Stadium Camellia last weekend after months of talking about it. It was pretty good. They have a cooked buffet and raw buffet. You can cook your raw food at your table, which is awesome, because you can cook to your own liking. The food overall was pretty good. We had some of everything. The pricing is great, especially considering just how much food you can get. They do have a 2-hour limit, but you can get a ton of food in that time. The service was good. We'll definitely be back.
