Skybox Taphouse: Sports Bar
About
Game Day Energy in Waikiki
If you find yourself wandering through the energetic streets of Waikiki looking for a place to catch the big game, Skybox Taphouse delivers the quintessential sports bar experience. High-definition screens blanket the walls, ensuring that no matter where you grab a seat, you have a front-row view of the action. The atmosphere is unapologetically loud, fueled by the collective cheers of local fans and tourists alike, making it an ideal destination for those who prefer their wings and nachos with a side of high-stakes sports drama.
The Craft Pour and Elevated Pub Fare
Beyond the stadium-like setup, this Honolulu hangout takes its draft list seriously. They curate a rotating selection of craft beers, ranging from hop-heavy IPAs to smooth island-style lagers that pair perfectly with their heavy-hitting menu. The kitchen specializes in bar classics—think crispy, seasoned fries, hefty burgers, and appetizers designed to be shared over a few rounds. While the seating can feel a bit compact during prime-time televised matchups, the proximity to the bustling Honolulu nightlife makes it a convenient pit stop before or after a walk along the shoreline.
A Local Perspective
Expect a casual, come-as-you-are environment that ignores the pretension often found elsewhere in the city. It is the kind of place where it is perfectly acceptable to yell at the TV and linger over a final pint long after the game clock hits zero. If you are scouting for a reliable local spot that prioritizes broadcast quality and a cold glass over fancy tablecloths, this is where the action happens.

Great spot to hang out! Skybox Bar has a solid selection of drinks and food, plus big TVs everywhere so it’s perfect to watch your favorite sports without missing a play. The view from the top floor is pretty neat and gives the place a cool vibe. My birthday just passed and got the house dessert, and it was absolutely delicious. Karaoke starts at 9pm, which makes the night even more fun. Good food, good drinks, good energy. I’d definitely come back!

Great local and ambiance. Food was good. got the fish n chips and my friend got a burger no bun. Staff is nice, but a little slow on checking on you. Beautiful view right downtown. Parking is a challenge. Took me 45 min to find a space.

Came here to eat while on our honeymoon while we were window shopping and we regretted it. This was probably the loudest restaurant we have ever been to. My husband and I could barely hear each other which led to a quiet meal. We waited quite a while for a server to come up to us, while she was nice we had to wait a while for our drinks to come out and our food. The onion rings to start were really good, but our mains weren’t the best. I felt uneasy after eating here. I got the chicken wrap and while it sounded good, it wasn’t. The wrap itself was greasy and the chicken had an odd taste. There was no ranch on it despite being a ranch wrap. I ordered truffle fries and got Parmesan fries instead and they weren’t good. Also very small portions. I guess a good place to drink beer and watch sports but if you’re a couple I’d avoid this place.

Great place to relax, have a good meal and a delicious drink. The staff were professional and quick, and worked together as a team. I'd definitely go back.

My wife and I watched game 6 of the world series here while it was decorated for Halloween. The energy was crazy good and the bartender staff lead by Cam kept service top tier.

Bait and switch advertising. We saw an advertisement (see attached) on a stand-up banner in the first floor Int'l Marketplace (near Target) for Happy Hour specials of $3 draft beer at 3pm then $4 at 4pm and $5 at 5pm. Also, cocktails starting at $6. We arrived at 3:15pm (happy hour 3-6pm). Well, our waitress Anna told us that the ad (which we showed her) was outdated and they no longer offer this. It is $5 draft beers for Happy Hour and $10 cocktails (see attached Happy Hour menu pics). We expressed our displeasure with the bait and switch advertising and she understood. But, obviously did nothing about it. Also, the advertised "ocean view" is over-exagerated, at best, and mis-leading (see attached picture). Seems that this biz resorts to these types of misleading tactics, as another reviewer mentioned of their "included" appetizer sampler platter of onion rings and waffle fries which really wasn't a sampler platter. On another note, the food was good (I ordered the chicken spicy pasta). Also, on our receipt (see attached) a "BOH SB" charge was applied, which, after googling, stands for "back of house". While nominal, this is another ridiculous tactic. By the way, we tipped 20% so it's not a cost thing. It's a stop lying to me thing. We will not go back because of the lies.
