Sip on Kalihi’s Favorite Bubble Tea
When you find yourself navigating the busy Dillingham Boulevard corridor, Shaka Shaka Tea Express offers a quick, refreshing break from the industrial energy of Kalihi. This spot isn't just about grabbing a drink; it is a local staple for those who appreciate a massive menu of customizable milk teas, fruit blends, and chewy boba toppings.
What to Expect Behind the Counter
The menu here is extensive, leaning into the classic Hawaiian-style boba experience. The signature drinks are consistently praised for their balance—never too cloying, with tea profiles that actually shine through the milk. If you are indecisive, their fruit tea options are particularly vibrant, often featuring real fruit components that provide a satisfying texture. The environment is utilitarian and fast-paced, perfect for a grab-and-go visit while you are running errands across Honolulu.
The Local Vibe
The shop thrives on its straightforward approach to craft beverages. You will hear the rhythmic shake of canisters and the hum of the sealer machine the moment you step up to order. It is a no-frills destination, meaning seating is quite limited, so it’s best enjoyed as a companion to your afternoon commute. If you are driving, keep in mind that the parking lot can get tight during the lunch rush, but the efficiency of the staff keeps the line moving steadily. For anyone seeking a cold, sweet pick-me-up that captures the casual spirit of Oʻahu, this Dillingham favorite delivers exactly what you need without the pretense.

They have the best combinations of Boba Teas on Island and everything is all natural- no powders! Gotta love that.

Very good tea (both boba and liquid-only, we got a watermelon-something and a plain oolong. Note that drinks are sweetened unless otherwise specified !) inside of a shop specialising in snacks & packaged food mostly from Taiwan and China. To-go only ; the only seating is a little plaza in the middle of the car park.

We LOVE this tea express! They use REAL fruit and it's always what's in season. If they don't have the actual fruit then they take it off the menu! You can also decide on how much sugar should be added, so there's something for everyone! The prices are great and the Boba is always perfect...never hard! They also recently expanded their store to include an array of super delicious snacks!! If you are looking for a refreshing treat I highly recommend stopping here!

They use real fruits in all their drinks, so it’s fresh and you can definitely taste the difference between this place and most places that use powders. Hands down my favorite and best boba spot on island. I got the Coconut smoothie w/Boba and avocado, I recommend mixing the avocado with banana though because by itself is too rich.

They raised their prices, but I'll give them a pass on that because they are the only place that i know of that will make a taro smoothie with FRESH taro, not the purple powder stuff. All their drinks are made with natural fruit. The honeydew and cantaloupe smoothies are other favorites of mine. They do add sugar syrup so i suggest starting at about 50% sweetness so you can really taste the true fruit.

They use real sugar, and let you customize however you want. The customer service is fantastic as well.
