About
A Steaming Bowl of Comfort in Honolulu
Walking into Seoul Tofu House off the bustling streets of Honolulu, the first thing you notice is the rhythmic clatter of stone bowls hitting wooden trays. The air is thick with the scent of fermented kimchi and searing garlic, a scent that signals you are about to have a meal that prioritizes substance over presentation. This is where locals head when the humidity drops or the craving for something genuinely spicy hits hard.
The Art of the Soon Tofu
At the heart of the menu is their signature Soon Tofu, served in individual cast-iron pots that keep the broth at a violent simmer long after it arrives at your table. The silken tofu is exceptionally delicate, collapsing under the weight of the spicy, opaque broth. Whether you opt for the seafood mix or the classic pork, the addition of a raw egg cracked directly into the pot provides a silky body that ties the heat together. Expect a spread of banchan—the pickled cucumbers and bean sprouts—to arrive instantly, providing a crisp, cooling contrast to the intensity of the main dish.
What to Expect
The space keeps things minimal. You aren't coming here for a white-tablecloth experience; the seating is functional, and during peak lunch hours, the acoustics can get quite lively with chatter echoing against the walls. It is a neighborhood staple where efficiency is the house specialty. Keep in mind that parking in this part of Honolulu can be a tight squeeze, so if you are driving, be prepared to navigate the surrounding blocks for a spot. It is the kind of place you visit with friends who don’t mind a bit of a mess—expect your napkin count to be high and your appetite to be fully satisfied by the time you leave.

Scene here was way better than the overcrowded tourist vibe next door. Staff was all very friendly and attentive. Food hit the spot. Chicken and cheese combo plate and the seafood pancakes split between 2 was too much for us to finish. Took the pancakes back to our and munched the rest there. Happily

I was craving Korean food and it was only an 8 minute walk from Hilton Waikiki so I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised, it was very good and hit the spot!!! I didn’t expect it to taste like it does in LA or Korea so I wasn’t disappointed. My mom and I got there around 3pm for a late lunch. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman who seated us and took our order. We were the only customers at the time which made me a little nervous but it was an odd time. My mom ordered the seafood soondubu and I ordered the kimchi soondubu (w/ pork). The waiter said that their soups were spicy so I had to ask, Korean spicy or Hawaiian spicy? He said Korean spicy so I got my mom the mild and I got the regular; both were good to our taste. I don’t think they use the silken (soft) soondubu they use in traditional restaurants, instead maybe a medium firm. I’m guessing it’s due to availability which is no biggie. The kimchi soondubu had large chunks of kimchi and pork whereas I’m used too seeing smaller pieces in soups, still tasted great! The kimchi was a bit overly fermented both in the soup and the banchan but again, it was still very good. When back in Waikiki I will definitely be back.

Decent food. Good portion size. A combo is enough for two people. Kimchi pancakes were super. You must order some. Beer tasted watered down. The reason I am certain of it is I buy it a lot for home. They have three beers on tap and I know them all well, so don't think it was a mixup with what was poured.
