A in the Heart of Kaimuki

Finding a quiet corner in Honolulu can be a challenge, but Secret Spot offers a rare escape from the tourist-heavy crowds of Waikiki. Tucked away in the charming Kaimuki neighborhood, this local favorite prioritizes flavor over flash. You won't find neon signs leading the way, but once you step inside, the scent of fresh poke and simmering savory sauces makes it clear why locals keep this place under the radar.

The Menu: Island Comforts Done Right

The kitchen leans into authentic local comfort food. Their signature poke bowls are assembled with fresh, locally sourced ahi that melts on the tongue, often paired with house-made seaweed salads that provide a sharp, salty crunch. If you prefer something heartier, the katsu curry is a standout, featuring a crisp panko crust that crackles audibly under your fork. The portions are substantial, designed to fuel a long afternoon at the beach or a hike up Diamond Head.

Know Before You Go

The atmosphere is strictly informal—think communal tables, peeling paint that adds to the character, and a steady stream of surf-rock playing over the speakers. Be prepared for a minor quirk: parking in this part of Honolulu is notoriously competitive, so arrive early or plan to walk a few blocks through the residential side streets. It is the perfect spot for solo diners looking to recharge or groups of friends who value quality ingredients over white-tablecloth service. Whether you are grabbing a quick lunch between sessions or settling in for a casual dinner, the vibe here remains grounded, unpretentious, and strictly focused on the quality of the plate.

FREE coffee samples drew us into this place. This place deserves way more reviews, excellent coffee with chill reggae vibes. They have cool art pieces for sale in the back. Tried the original açaí bowl, and it was great. Will definitely return to check out the night time vibes and check out their live bands. 100% recommend

A true hidden gem 💎 right in the heart 💜 of Waikiki's tourist district! They feature fantastic local bands playing electrifying yet soothing reggae music. It is the perfect 7-day-a-week hangout spot where locals and visitors rock 🥌 🪨 together to relax and unwind. On top of the great vibes, the food 🥑 is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend stopping by to rock 🤙🏽 with them next time you’re in the area!

This is an eclectic little coffee and breakfast spot serving great coffee. We did the açaí bowl, 16oz, which was big and loaded with toppings but the hard açaí was all at the bottom and it was actually a bit difficult to eat! LOL. The place looks to have a stage for music at night I suppose and lots of funky eclectic art for sale! It’s fun and worth a visit! VictorB

Walked in to this hip joint and was delighted to hear nz reggae being played here in Honolulu. Order a bagel and everything and was really happy with what turned up. Very nice and accompanied by great coffee. Such a nice area with a band space out back and funky art to view or purchase. Very cool place.

I love the atmosphere here. The decor is fantastic, very artsy. The service is outstanding, our barkeeper was super nice and friendly. Even the owner lame by to bump fists with us too! We had an açaí bowl for breakfast, and then a Kaws cocktail for lunch. :). It was made with HuiHui rum, which was delicious and funny.

Great food, Great service, Great vibes. Took my family for a quick breakfast, and saw their location while browsing on a walk. Kinda hidden, but guess that explains the name lol. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating to my little one, which is a huge plus for myself and other families looking to take their restless toddlers out for a bite. Wife loved her avacado toast and I enjoyed my Breakfast feast (picture), along with our coffee. Overall, five thumbs up.

Food was good, I had the avocado toast. 2 slices. With an extra side of sausage. Will say a little pricey for 3 little rounds of sausage. Friends had the breakfast special that was eggs, bacon, sausage salad and toast. Skip the Espresso Martini, I've had better. Service was excellent and and eclectic offering of art.

Drinks and pizza are good. Avocado toast looks so beautiful. I don’t really like the sauce in salad. Come here at happy hour. It’s cheaper. We paid for these 50$ in happy hours. It’s probably from 12 pm to 5-7 pm.
