Seaside Grill
About
Oceanfront Dining in the Heart of Waikiki
Perched right where the sand meets the pavement along the Honolulu coastline, Seaside Grill is less about white-tablecloth formality and more about the salt-crusted joy of island dining. This open-air kitchen captures the essence of a classic beachside shack, where the primary soundtrack is the relentless rhythmic crash of Pacific waves rather than a curated playlist.
A Menu Defined by the Catch
The culinary focus here is strictly on simplicity. Their signature approach involves fresh-caught mahi-mahi and ahi, seared just enough to develop a charred crust while keeping the interior buttery and translucent. You will smell the faint, savory scent of garlic butter and charred pineapple mingling with the ocean breeze as plates exit the pass. It is the kind of place where your hands get messy, and nobody minds.
Practical Island Notes
Seaside Grill serves as an ideal refueling spot for surfers and beachgoers who haven't quite dried off from their afternoon session. Be prepared for the reality of high-traffic tourism; finding a table during golden hour can be a test of patience, and the proximity to the public beach means things can get loud and spirited during the peak of the afternoon heat. If you are looking for a place that feels like the authentic, unpretentious soul of Oahu, pull up a plastic chair and order the grilled catch of the day.

This is my favorite place to go for cocktails with a waterfront patio. Bartenders are really friendly. One of the few bars that give you complimentary nuts while you drink.

This is our new favorite beachside restaurant. Great service. My Kahala Burger was done perfectly (both patties). The Kahala sauce reminded me of McDonald's Big Mac sauce. The fries were nice and crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The hummus dish beat ones we've had at other places. Other vegan options available like summer rolls with tofu instead. Beach is secluded and quiet so you could enjoy and contemplate the breeze, gentle waves, sunshine, etc. Restful and delightful experience. The walk to the grill takes you to a bridge over the dolphin lagoon. Fun to see the dolphins swimming too. Free 4hr parking with validation also beats Waikiki.

The atmosphere is a bit disappointing knowing it’s a beach restaurant at the high end hotel. Food is ok. Not great but not horrible. Guys at the bar making drinks also don’t seem very excited to get your drink. They don’t even try to make it look more appealing. Maybe it’s the Hawaii style.

Had an early dinner at the Seaside Grill, which is near the pool area at the Kahala Hotel. This restaurant is definitely the most casual dining option at the resort, but it also has the best views of the ocean too. The food and service today were both excellent. My son loved the burger, and the coconut cake was the best we have both ever had!

This place is right next to the pool and beach so easy to get a bite to eat when you are hanging out at the pool or beach. The food is good with Hawaiian prices. The service is fast and very friendly. The club sandwich is great to split. The fish Tacos were good but I have had better at other places.

Upscale resort fare. You pay for the scenery and location. Service was good. It's way overpriced but the food was good just don't expect Michelin or fine dining - you're here for the ambience. If you have that mindset then definitely 4 stars. If food needs to be an important consideration then 3 stars.

When in Waikiki, make sure you stop by the Seaside Grill outside the beautiful Kahala Hotel and Resort. You’ll have a front row view of Waikiki Beach. You just have to order their Royal Pineapple drink served in a hollowed out fresh pineapple 🍍. It was great but even better than that is their cocojito freeze drink with coconut, lime and mint. Best drink 🍹 ever!!!!! Can’t wait to go back for more.

The grill is done outdoors next to the table. It does get a bit smoky but tastes and smells great. Beautiful view. Bathroom is on the other side of the building. The Dolphins were adorable and well trained.

Really a breathtaking view and great unusual menu. We had come from Waikiki and all the pool menus there are basically the same. This place has some great lentil nachos. And of course a nice kids menu.

Fantastic food and drinks at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend the Sunset Moon cocktail for a drink. For a snack the Lintel Nachos are in my opinion the best appatizer, and for a meal or light snack, the fish tacos. They are grilled not fried and taste amazing! For an adventure drink, they make a spectacular pineapple drink, that is served inside of a cored pineapple. His the spot for relaxing in the beach. Truly a great getaway as you will not be bombarded with the tourist scene or packed restaurants like you will find in Waikiki, and the prices are perfect.
