Ruth's Chris Steak House (226 Lewers Street Waikiki Beach Walk)
About
Sizzle and Sophistication at Waikiki Beach Walk
Stepping into this Honolulu steakhouse, the first thing you notice is the sound of the signature butter-topped steaks hitting the table. The air carries the rich, savory scent of searing beef, a promise that stays consistent regardless of which location you visit. Located in the heart of the vibrant Waikiki Beach Walk shopping and dining district, this spot offers a refined escape from the tropical humidity, trading the outdoor breeze for the cool, dimly lit comfort of dark wood interiors and polished white tablecloths.
The Art of the Sizzling Plate
The culinary philosophy here is simple but exacting: high-quality USDA Prime beef prepared under intense heat and served on plates heated to 500 degrees. The result is a persistent, satisfying sizzle that announces your entrée from across the dining room. Whether you order the classic ribeye or their signature porterhouse for two, the meat arrives resting in a pool of butter and parsley that demands to be mopped up with a side of mashed potatoes.
A Localized Dining Experience
While the menu remains grounded in the traditional American steakhouse repertoire, the Waikiki location manages to feel integrated into the island flow. It is a premier destination for travelers looking for a reliable, upscale dinner after a day at the beach. You might find the pace of service surprisingly brisk during the busy dinner rush, which keeps the energy in the room high. If you are seated near the entrance, expect a bit of foot traffic from those wandering the nearby plazas, but the staff handles the volume with a professional, rhythmic efficiency that is hard to fault. It is the ideal setting for those celebrating a milestone or simply seeking a hearty, sophisticated meal amidst the bustle of Oahu’s most famous tourist hub.

Elegant restaurant. Great classic fixed price 3 course menu. I had a great Mai Tai. My first course was a really good gumbo. Next was a filet and optional lobster tail with a side dish (creamed spinach). Choice of desserts followed. Ice cream, raspberry sorbet or bread pudding. Everything thing was great. The service was next level. And timing of the delivery of the courses was perfect. No rushing at all.

Service was impeccable. Food was delicious from the bread to the large seafood tower to the tomahawk and the filet mignon and the sea bass. We had an amazing meal. Everything was top notch. David the manager made sure everything was perfect and even went out of his way to ensure we were having a good time. He even insisted on taking photos of us at lovely spots on the terrace outside.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House was not quite as impressive as I expected. The steak was decent, but not particularly memorable. Overall it was fine, but not a place I would specifically go out of my way to visit again.

Very busy establishment during meal service. The bone in rib eye was very flavourful and tender. Good choices of sides for accompaniment avail. Staff even though busy, took the time to chat and also make sure all were well with the food. Very friendly and helpful.

We’ve now visited Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Waikīkī six times. We make it a point to come every single time we visit Oʻahu. That alone should say something! What we love most about Ruth’s Chris is the consistency. It’s predictable in the best possible way. We know exactly what we’re going to get: exceptional service, incredible steaks, and an overall enjoyable, special evening. Today’s visit was in celebration of my son’s birthday. I ordered the Ruth’s Classics dinner and had the house salad, the 6 oz filet with shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes, and vanilla ice cream for dessert. Everything was cooked perfectly and beautifully paced. My dad and son shared the 40 oz Porterhouse for Two. Yes, I typed that correctly , 40oz. It was served sizzling on that signature 500-degree plate with butter (which is truly an experience in itself). Their meal deal also included two salads, garlic mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and two desserts. And yes, you guessed it, they left with leftovers! The steaks here are consistently some of the best we’ve had. Tender, flavorful, and served exactly as ordered every time. If you’re in Waikīkī and looking for a guaranteed great steakhouse experience, this is it. We’ll be back again on our next trip, no question.

Very good high end chain steakhouse with nice ambiance and friendly efficient service. Being in Honolulu, all the staff are bilingual Japanese and English. Our party all order the porterhouse set menu. We were pleased with the mixed green salad for appetizer. But the gumbo soup was below average, served lukewarm and not as tasty as the authentic gumbo from New Orleans. We found the porterhouse steak for two good but not outstanding. It was smaller compared to the New York top steakhouse standard and although we ordered it cooked medium rare, the filet side was served medium. The sides of creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were just okay. Lastly the dessert of ice cream and bread pudding were good but not outstanding. Overall, we found Ruth’s Chris in Honolulu good but overpriced and not at the same level as the top 10 steakhouses of New York City.

We had such an amazing dinner tonight! We got the Tomahawk dinner for 2 and it was delicious!!!!! The creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, salad and chocolate cake that came with it were all impeccable!! I was even surprised with a birthday strawberry platter! The iced tea is Amazing too! I’m kind-of an iced tea snob, and it was Perfect!!! Our server Josh was amazing and Matthew one of the managers took the time to see how we were doing and made us feel really welcome!!! 10 stars!

Our server Melissa was fabulous! Food was great, we had steak, lobster and scallops. Get the Gumbo if it’s on the menu! Delicious ! Take their advice that all the sides are shareable! General Mgr was also very personable and checked in with us. Very nice atmosphere, friendly service and good food. Highly recommend! Just steps away from Embassy Suites.

First of all, I recommend you go on a Saturday. Make a reservation and ask specifically to sit in Aljay’s section. He is an amazing server, super attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Tell him Steve and Jenn from New York say hello. We had the seafood tower to start, amazing and fresh. Then we had the T bone, lobster mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. All were amazing and we highly recommend. The management is great as well, they stopped by the table multiple times.

First time at this location. The service was superb. Gavin, David, Derek and Israel made our dining experience exceptional. While extremely busy they were attentive. We started with cocktails at the bar then forwarded to our table. We had the Tomahawk for two with cream spinach and mash potatoes. ABSOLUTELY delicious. Atmosphere cozy and beautiful. Reservations recommended .
