Rivals Waikiki
About
A Front Row Seat to Honolulu Game Days
If you are navigating the energetic streets of Waikiki looking for a place where the cheers are as loud as the music, Rivals Waikiki is your primary destination. Positioned right in the heart of Honolulu’s primary tourism corridor, this spot serves as the unofficial living room for sports fans who don't want to sacrifice a vacation vibe for the big game.
More Than Just a Sports Bar
The space is built for the high-energy crowd, featuring walls lined with flat-screen TVs that ensure you won't miss a single play, whether you are following mainland college football or local favorites. The atmosphere leans heavy into the casual, rowdy spirit of a classic pub, but with a distinct island twist. Expect the air to smell of salty fries and cold local draft beer, punctuated by the clinking of glasses and the inevitable roar when a touchdown hits the board.
The menu highlights include elevated bar staples, with the chicken wings and loaded nachos consistently drawing the most attention from the pre-game crowd. It is a fantastic venue for groups who prefer an unpretentious environment over white-tablecloth service.
Local Observations
While the energy is electric, be prepared for a lively, high-decibel environment. The acoustics can get quite intense during championship games, so it is the perfect spot for socializing, but perhaps not for a quiet business dinner. Parking in this part of Honolulu can be a bit of a puzzle, so utilizing a rideshare or walking from nearby hotel hubs is usually your best bet. If you want to secure a prime table during major sporting events, arriving early is highly recommended to beat the local rush.

Think sports dive bar. It's awesome in a dive bar way. Cheap and delicious bar food. No crazy menu but who cares...bar food and they have tots!

Host guy at front are not really welcoming people even seats was occupied for superbowl and he said to me “please leave “ of course with attitude. I found different welcoming bar next block for standing also more than occupied! No problem

I haven't been to this bar in a long time. Recently attended to watch UFC and was pleasantly surprised overall. The staff were friendly and the food/drinks was good. Alina's attention to detail, frequent check ins and good vibe made it 5 stars. I'll be back.

TLDR: Do not come here if you are a minority. (Not allowed to talk at bar) Bartender(John B) is racist and actively shows he does not want you here. (Wouldn’t even stand behind the bar…see photos) There are other reviews describing similar incidents. See below for story. Used to come here when I lived here before and it was fine and that was why I came here again because of those good times. As you can see from the picture the bar is completely empty. Only one other couple in the entire bar. This is a sports bar. I’m came here to watch my team and I’m sitting at the bar talking to a friend of mine on the phone analyzing how our team looks in preseason. The bartender in the photo precedes to turn the music up super loud as a way to mess with me. Then when seen that doesn’t phase me, comes over and tells me to go outside to talk on the phone. AGAIN, I’m at a sports bar and I’m one of 2 other people here. He wouldn’t give me another drink until I got off the phone and came back into the bar. Again, I was told to leave the bar and finish my conversation at the bar….at a sports bar with 2 other people in the entire bar. Then instead of saying anything to me. He stays away from the bar and does not even come near me(zero service). Now there are other reviews (see Venom Squeeze) regarding the same thing. Yes, you can see the bartender is white…the other two people in the entire bar is white and I’m a black man. Seeing now there are other reviews of situations like this is not surprising. AGAIN..Do not come to this bar if you are a minority. I’m sorry. It is not what it used to be. You will not be allowed to talk on the phone. You will not be able to talk at the bar. You will be drowned out by music and asked to step outside if you need to speak.

Best Sports Bar in Central Waikiki, Great Bartender. Some people were there for Hockey, others for College Football and if you ask politely they will change channels for you. Highly recommend any of the slices of pizza or the wings. Great vibe for anyone who doesn't mind the 5-6 hour time difference from the East Coast.

There were about 2 people handling the bar and kitchen during the Tyson fight and I must say, they did a great job at taking care of everyone. The food was delicious, there were many tv screens in here, and the drinks were good. I would definitely recommend watching sports games and fighting events here.

The grilled cheese was horrible. I don’t even think a drunk person would like it. The wings were pretty good. It’s typical bar food. I didn’t try the alcoholic drinks and only had a soda that was a bit flat. The multiple screens are great but they only had two screens on with the game I wanted to see. The bartender was acting as a waiter as well so a couple walked out after they waited too long for service. Seems like a spot for football loving Americans to hang out. There’s a key for the bathroom to prevent the homeless from using it. Found my team playing 5,000 miles away so it was a win for me.
