A Slice of Eastern Europe in Kaimuki
Tucked away in the vibrant Kaimuki neighborhood, Rada's Piroscki brings the soul-warming comfort of Eastern European street food to the tropical heart of Honolulu. Stepping inside feels less like a typical island eatery and more like visiting a family kitchen in the Czech Republic. The air is consistently heavy with the scent of yeasted dough and savory, slow-cooked fillings, a sharp contrast to the salty trade winds just outside.
Hand-Crafted Dough and Hearty Traditions
The namesake piroscki are the undeniable stars here. Chef Rada masterfully balances the golden, pillowy crust—which holds a perfect crunch—with robust, seasoned fillings that lean heavily into authentic, no-nonsense recipes. Whether you grab the classic ground beef, the tangy sauerkraut, or a sweet fruit-filled variety for a quick breakfast, the preparation shows a clear dedication to old-world techniques. It is the kind of food that sustains you, regardless of whether you are heading to the beach or just finishing a work day in town.
The Kaimuki Pace
The shop is modest and no-frills, often serving a steady line of locals who know exactly what they want. Keep in mind that parking in this part of town can be a bit of a localized sport, and the shop’s popularity means popular varieties occasionally sell out before the afternoon is up. If you arrive early, you might catch the visual satisfaction of the golden-brown trays being pulled straight from the oven. It is an unpretentious, straightforward spot perfect for anyone craving a break from the standard Hawaiian plate lunch rotation.

If you are looking for Russian piroskis, this is not it. Philippines take on a Russian fast food in Hawaii. Took 4 different attempts to catch the store open. Like many places around there is a minimum amount for charge...I tried, but will get a baked manapua 3 blocks away that tastes more like a baked piroskis for half the price. I didn't try anything else, but this was disappointing ( disclaimer I have been eating piroski for last 40 years, different continents, preparations and cultures...this is strictly my opinion, but I think I can be a self proclaimed authority on that at least in my family)

Something about these piroshki is so good. I really enjoy the beef and mushroom and the chicken with mushroom. Prices are still very reasonable as well. Tip- Always call before you head down. I've dropped by a few times when they were supposed to be open per their sign but they were closed.

Rada's Piroscki is located on Front Street Mall. You order from the window. Prices are reasonable. I ate one of each (beef w/mushrooms, beef w/cabbage and chicken w/mushrooms). The best way to describe it would be a deep fried manapua filled with beef or chicken. I like it and it wasn't as greasy as I thought it would be. I'll have to try the fried squid next time.
