Poké Bar
About
Fresh Island Flavors in Honolulu
When you find yourself wandering through the vibrant streets of Honolulu, the craving for genuine, no-nonsense island cuisine is inevitable. Poké Bar captures that local spirit, moving away from overly processed options to focus on the raw, oceanic freshness that defines the region. The sound of rapid-fire knife work against wooden cutting boards echoes through the space, serving as the rhythmic soundtrack to your lunch break.
Customization Meets Quality
This spot operates on a build-your-own model that actually respects the ingredients. You choose your base—ranging from traditional steamed white rice to crisp, chilled seaweed salad—before layering on cubes of ruby-red ahi tuna that clearly haven't spent an eternity in a freezer. The scent of toasted sesame oil and soy sauce hits you the moment you step through the entrance, cutting through the tropical humidity of the street outside.
The Local Experience
The layout is streamlined and efficient, designed for those who know exactly what they want. It is a fantastic pit stop for urban professionals or visitors tired of overpriced tourist traps. While the floor space is compact and can get a bit congested during the peak midday rush, the speed of the line keeps things moving. The staff balances high-volume service with a genuine attention to detail, ensuring your bowl is packed with generous portions of edamame, pickled ginger, and crunchy onions. If you are exploring the downtown corridor and need a reliable, high-protein meal that hits the spot without the fuss of a sit-down service, this is your primary destination.

Walked off the street looking for fresh poke and this place met expectations. The portions are generous and the prices reasonable. The fish is fresh and the service magnificent. Staff friendly and the place is very clean. We’ll return again before vacation is over. Highly recommended.

if you’re celiac or gluten free, ask for the manager to help prepare your food. She is great. But, fair warning that not only are the other staff unfriendly, a few are negligent to the point that they will put regular shoyu in your poké instead of gf soy sauce despite being prompted multiple times to check, and will insist to you that they gave you gluten free to your face. if you’re celiac and the manager isn’t available, i would just leave to be safe.

Fresh, but the taste is not out of this world. Sauces need refinement. A good option if you want a quick snack, we appreciated all the customizations! There are better options outside this very touristy area of Oahu.

At first, I wasn’t 100% sure if I wanted to try Poké Bar, but I’m SO glad we did! It ended up being one of the most satisfying meals we had in Honolulu. My daughter had a poke bowl with rice, and I had mine over salad and OMG, it was absolutely delightful. Everything tasted fresh, flavourful, and perfectly made. Such a great spot for a light but filling meal. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Hawaii!

Best Poke in this trip! Fish is fresh and amount is generous. Scallop and ponzu (citrus soysause) are big highlights! Mix-in is carefully considered.

Delicious, fresh & mouth watering seafood.🤤 the scallops were a big stand out for me! And they’re gluten free safe which is amazing for coeliacs.

Food is okay but better than Hilton ones. Service is poor since the waiter here seems under-trained so that he messed up the sauce. Good for random lunch

The location of this poke place was truly magnificent, right in front of the beach with outdoor seating available. Inside, the space was very small but offered a good variety of ingredients to customize your poke. Portions weren’t very large, but overall it was a nice and pleasant experience. Prices on the higher side, but it’s fine, due to the location, it’s Hawaii

Fast service, good food. Poke is a must have for anyone visiting Hawaii. This location is close to the beach and was good for a dinner on our way to our condo coming back from the beach.

Decent service, we took our food back to hotel as it’s more of a to-go atmosphere for sure. The bowls are pretty interesting if you’ve had lots of poke and quality sushi. The spicy tuna and tuna was decent but the shrimp and salmon were quite subpar on the day we went. Some ingredients were fresh and others weren’t all that fresh. I’d honestly rate it a 3.5 objectively, esp. if it was more expensive. But since it’s decently priced for this area I will give it a 4.25 and round way up. There may be better options but they aren’t as convenient. Also the portion is pretty decent. Tl:Dr - it’s nothing to look forward to or even memorable, but it will fill your belly at a moderate price and decent size if you’re feeling poke.
