Oceanfront Dining Where the Pacific Meets the Plate

Sitting right on the edge of the Pacific in the quiet enclave of Kahala, Plumeria Beach House offers an open-air dining experience that lets the trade winds do the heavy lifting. The floor-to-ceiling windows are almost always wide open, meaning you’ll hear the rhythmic churn of the tide just a few feet away from your table.

A Kahala Landmark for Casual Elegance

This isn't a place for stiff suits or formal speeches. It’s an airy, relaxed space characterized by its iconic vaulted ceilings and a sprawling outdoor terrace. The aesthetic is quintessential Hawaii: bright, white, and focused entirely on the expansive view of the coastline. It serves as an ideal spot for those looking to escape the high-rise bustle of Waikiki for a quieter, more refined morning or afternoon.

Signature Flavors of the Island

The kitchen leans into local flavors with a heavy emphasis on fresh, island-grown ingredients. You’ll find the signature Plumeria curry—a rich, fragrant staple—alongside an extensive breakfast buffet that is widely considered a rite of passage for locals and visitors alike. Expect the smell of freshly brewed Kona coffee and sizzling apple-smoked bacon to greet you before you even sit down.

A Few Practical Notes

Be prepared for the occasional stray breeze that might challenge your napkin, and don't be surprised if you have to wait a moment for valet parking during the busier weekend brunch rushes. The layout is somewhat sprawling, so if you are sensitive to heat, request a seat further back in the interior section to stay shielded from the midday sun while still catching those panoramic ocean views.

We just recently visited the kahala hotel for 3 nights for a wedding. My fiancé and I went to plumeria beach house a total of 5 times (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner) and we had other family members go 7 times. The food was incredible, service was great, staff were friendly, and we booked the reservations without any issues. I would highly recommend the breakfast buffet, lunch bento, and especially the seafood buffet. Excellent restaurant!!

Great place to eat all around. The food is always terrific -- I got the Kahala Loco Moco, which was delicious, with a juicy patty and a perfectly done egg. Service is impeccable and very friendly. The setting is breathtaking, with wide views of the beach from most parts of the restaurant (even if you're not on the veranda). It is unsurprisingly expensive, but the experience is worth it -- we typically come here for special occasions.

On our recent anniversary trip to Oahu, we returned to the beautiful Kahala resort where we were married several years ago, and celebrated with dinner at Plumeria Beach House. We reserved outdoor seating at sunset and the views of the ocean and sunset colors were absolutely stunning. Thursday happen to be prime rib night. We started with Chef’s onion soup, which was rich, savory and topped perfectly with crunchy onions. The prime rib was massive, juicy and tender & served with generously size bowls of creamy mashed potatoes and creamed spinach the portions are so large we easily could’ve shared one meal. Even though we were full, I couldn’t resist the Lillikoi tart. It arrived with a chocolate happy anniversary plaque and to our surprise they also brought out a slice of rainbow cake with another plaque. This extra touch was really appreciated and made our night extra special . The LiliKoi pie was delicious, tart and sweet and the macadamia nut crust was buttery & crunchy. The hostess, servers and everyone who stopped by our table were warm, friendly and very attentive. Plumeria Beach House is just as delicious and top-notch as we remembered. As a bonus valet parking is validated with a $50 spend, making it easy to enjoy a relaxed memorable special evening.

I'm guessing we went at a wrong time. Not impressed with their breakfast buffet, not at all. The selection was bad. Didn't get my money's worth. We'll try lunch or dinner and update. But a nice view.. some servers were nice, a couple ladies were not really. Overall, nothing special that worth coming back for a breakfast buffet.

We had one of the best breakfast buffets ever at the Plumeria Beach House within the Kahala Hotel. The service was great, the views are incredible, and the breakfast spread was outstanding. If you're looking to treat yourself for breakfast, this place is highly recommended.

After our elopement in Hawaii, we reserved a lunch at The Plumeria Beach House to celebrate, noting the occasion in our OpenTable reservation. While the message didn’t seem to make it through, the moment the staff overheard us talking about our wedding, everything changed—they came by one by one to offer congratulations and even surprised us with a sweet little cake to celebrate. It was such a kind, genuine gesture that made our day feel even more special. We both ordered seafood dishes and they were incredible—so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive without being overwhelming. And the setting? Absolutely stunning. Open-air dining with ocean views right from our table, with the beach just steps away. We took a walk down to the water while waiting for our drinks, and it felt like something out of a dream. This place is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. We’ll remember that lunch forever.
