Fresh Dough Meets Island Flair

Stepping into Pizza Torn Basil feels like a departure from the typical Waikiki tourist traps. Located conveniently within the urban pulse of Honolulu, this spot prioritizes a no-frills approach to the classic Italian pie. The air inside is consistently thick with the scent of bubbling mozzarella and char-blistered crust, a result of their high-heat ovens working overtime.

The Signature Fold

The star here is undoubtedly the margherita, distinguished by generous handfuls of hand-torn basil that add a sharp, peppery brightness to the sweet San Marzano tomato base. Chef-driven techniques meet casual dining; the crust is thin, impressively light, and carries a distinct crunch that balances the molten center. It is an ideal stop for those seeking a quick, high-quality lunch after a morning at the beach.

A Local Perspective

Don’t expect a quiet, candlelit affair. The acoustics are lively—bordering on boisterous—as the kitchen staff keeps up with the steady flow of locals looking for a reliable slice. While the layout is compact and seating can feel a bit snug during the evening rush, the efficiency of the service makes it a staple for anyone craving authentic, oven-fired pizza without the fuss of white-tablecloth service. If you are exploring the local dining scene, Pizza Torn Basil offers a straightforward, sensory-rich experience that stands out in the competitive Kaka'ako and Honolulu food landscape.

Pizza was good and staff was friendly. We were disappointed when we saw the size of the personal pan especially for $20+. Additionally they had no ranch for a pizza shop.

I live in the Pizza capital of the USA and this is surprisingly good pizza. And they have gluten free! Wine is crazzzzy $$$$. Might be shocked cause we just finished a wine tour of NZ

We stood at the register for several minutes waiting to order and nobody ever came up. We saw a QR code that made it look like you might have to order using that, so we tried that way. Makes you make an account only to take you to another menu that has nothing to do with ordering food. A little annoying. We wound up putting our drinks back and leaving.

Worst restaurant ever. Never been treated like this in my life. Wait for my pizza for 1 hour and got nothing. The only thing we get is a ketchup. Btw till this day I still don’t got my pizza, maybe their waiters ate it Suggest everyone who loves to be ignore and treated disrespectful to come to this, you will get the best experience ever

The pizza shop dining/tables apparently were “closed”, so the server lady told us to move our luggage outside of their dining area to wait for the pizzas we had ordered and also told us we’d have to eat elsewhere. While waiting for our pizzas, she then opened up the dining space to new customers. Mind you, we were still waiting on our pizzas. She opened up the dining area literally 2 minutes after telling us we could not sit or eat in her dining space. It was unfortunate that we felt discriminated against. When our pizza was ready for pickup, she was laughing and being extremely loud and rude as we walked away with our pizza to the “outside” dining space. Never again. Be aware if you’re considering eating here, they’re very rude and judgemental with customers. I don’t leave reviews ever, but the way I felt after leaving this place, I feel it would be a disservice not to inform future customers of this discriminating customer service here at the airport pizza shop called Torn Basil Pizza.

The pizza was an absolute joke in terms of size for $15. I ordered a small beer, and the price wasn't even on the menu. The beer cost me $15. The lady with short hair just said it's listed at the front of the bar; luckily, I had a magnifying glass with me. Avoid this restaurant at all costs, absolute rip-off!!!!

Well, while service was a bit cold, but quick, and the pizza was definitely beyond the airport expectation. We had pepperoni, untraditional Hawaiian and chicken BBQ. And the Waikiki brown ale was great. Yeah, the star down for making us (and everyone I guess) feel unwelcome.

Horrible pizza, paid $12 and it was smaller than my hand. The workers did not know how to make the margarita pizza, even though it was on the menu. The crust is more like a bread boat, and the pizza itself was rather tasteless. One of the women working the floor was yelling at a toddler that wasn’t hers and being very rude to customers.
