About
A Chicago Staple in Kaimuki
If you have been hunting for a slice of the Midwest in Honolulu, Pizza Pie in the Kaimuki neighborhood is the definitive destination. Moving away from the thin, crisp crusts common in the islands, this spot specializes in authentic, thick-crust Chicago-style deep dish that arrives at your table in a heavy cast-iron pan. The aroma of buttery, cornmeal-dusted crust hitting the table is unmistakable, followed by the sight of bubbling mozzarella and a robust, chunky tomato sauce that clings to every slice.
The Atmosphere
Stepping inside, the environment is unpretentious and stripped back. It feels like a neighborhood haunt where local families gather after work rather than a polished tourist trap. Be prepared for a wait, as the deep-dish pies take significant time to bake to perfection; order a round of appetizers or a salad to tide you over while the oven works its magic. The space can get a bit loud and boisterous when the Friday night rush hits, but that just adds to the authentic, high-energy pizza parlor feel.
Why You Should Visit
This is the spot for anyone craving a heavy, indulgent meal that sticks to your ribs. The crust has a distinct, biscuit-like snap, and the cheese pull is legendary. It is an ideal pick for groups who don’t mind sharing a pie and appreciate a no-frills culinary experience. While parking in the Kaimuki area requires a bit of patience during peak hours, the reward is a slice of authentic Americana that stands out in the Honolulu food scene. It is a hearty departure from the local poke and plate lunch culture, perfect for when you need a savory, cheesy comfort food fix.

Definitely not worth the money. We just went there for lunch. Paid $20 for a Hawaiian pizza and it was not good. The bottom crust was so undercooked and thin that when you picked up the pizza, all the toppings slid off. We should have known when we walked in and there was no one in there, it was a bad choice. We ordered two drinks, but they came out after the pizza. I enjoyed my drink, but I don’t think it should have taken 20 minutes to make it, especially since it was just myself and my boyfriend in the restaurant. Our server never even came back after he delivered our drinks to see how things were. I would not recommend this place and will definitely not be coming back.

Fairly priced food where other Italian restaurants are at over $30 a plate. Nice staff and we sat right away for dinner. Proportions are mostly fair. They look small on these larger plates. Happy hour is 5 to 7:00 Monday through Friday makes the drinks more reasonable. The spaghetti sauce is not very creamy and has lots of tomato chunks. The Alfredo and pink sauce are creamy and rich. They also have deep fried Oreos so that's a bonus.

We ordered few pizzas and salad. Cucumbers feta salad was only cucumber and little feta ) kinda expensive for just cucumber. Not good at all. Pizzas was good but cold( maybe they prebake an advance) My tai cocktail was $19 i did not finish it it’s was ice cream inside (ice creamy piece was there) and drink doesn’t look clean and it was so sweet too much. I took a wine and wine glass wasn’t clean or clear it was dry drops from water visible. I asked for new and got the same . Server was very nice. 👍
