Pho Tri Vietnamese Restaurant
About
A Neighborhood Staple in Kalihi
Stepping into Pho Tri Vietnamese Restaurant feels like finding a quiet corner in the busy streets of Honolulu. This no-frills spot is a go-to for locals who prefer flavor over flair. The dining area is modest and functional, filled with the comforting, heavy scent of star anise and slow-simmered beef marrow bone broth that hits you the moment you walk through the door.
Authentic Bowls and Bold Flavors
The kitchen here focuses on the essentials. Their signature pho is served in generous portions with a broth that strikes a balance between savory and clean. You will find all the classic accompaniments—fresh basil, crisp bean sprouts, and sliced jalapeños—waiting on your table before the soup even arrives. Beyond the soup, their menu highlights traditional Vietnamese plates, including aromatic grilled pork vermicelli and crispy spring rolls that offer a satisfying crunch.
What to Expect
This is a place where you come to eat, not to linger for hours over cocktails. The service is efficient and direct, fitting for the lunch rush in the Kalihi district. A minor quirk to keep in mind: parking can be a challenge during peak hours, as the lot is shared with neighboring businesses, so plan your arrival accordingly. The atmosphere is casual, making it an excellent choice for a quick solo lunch or a low-key meal with friends who value an authentic, home-cooked style over fancy plating.

Got medium pho with meatball and tendon. No wait at 11am. I was greeted quickly and my order was taken quickly. Then the food came out quickly. Seems you can get in and out for lunch in half an hour. Medium pho was Big enough for average sized appetite. The broth was hot and tasty and the meat was good. Fresh vegetables. A little light on the white onions, so next time I would ask for more. Noodles perfectly cooked. As good as any pho I’ve had. Good selection of condiments and dinnerware like metal spoons and plastic chopsticks. I used the fermented chili garlic oil, that some places don’t offer. Iced Coffee was strong. I will come back again.

As a traveler and a Pho specialist, I had visited this restaurant three times in a week. It’s quiet and friendly. The pho tastes good like what a pho should be. Serves was always good, easy parking at the street side.
