A Local Staple for Honolulu’s Best Broth
Tucked away from the main tourist drag in Honolulu, Phở Hương Lan serves as a no-frills sanctuary for those craving authentic Vietnamese comfort food. The air here carries the deep, fragrant scent of star anise and charred ginger, a hallmark of their signature beef bone broth that simmers for hours in the back kitchen.
The Honolulu Experience
Stepping inside, you are met with the rhythmic clinking of chopsticks and the soft hum of conversation. The space is functional and unpretentious, prioritizing the bowl in front of you over flashy interior design. It is the kind of place where locals head during a drizzly afternoon for a steaming, herbaceous bowl of Phở Đặc Biệt, packed with a generous assortment of rare beef, brisket, and tendon.
While the menu is expansive, the clear winner remains their traditional noodle soups. Be prepared for a bit of a scramble if you arrive during peak lunch hours, as this neighborhood favorite fills up quickly with office workers and families alike. The seating is efficient, and the service is straightforward; it is the ideal spot for a quick, soul-warming meal that doesn’t demand a reservation or a dress code.
What to Expect
Beyond the classic soups, keep an eye out for their spring rolls, served with a peanut dipping sauce that strikes the perfect balance between savory and sweet. If you are exploring the culinary landscape of Oahu and find yourself craving a genuine, low-key meal, this spot hits the mark without the pretense. Just keep in mind that the parking can be a bit tight in this bustling pocket of the city, so plan your arrival accordingly.

Had so many of my local friends recommend this place. Cozy, older, friendly, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. I got take out on a rainy day and got the #11 + Thai iced tea (delicious and not crazy sweet). Price is very good & the broth!! The broth was so comforting, aromatic, with a touch of sweetness. I always take note of pho restaurant’s chili oil sate and this one’s had a really good kick! Will definitely be back!

Best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. I had the Beef Steak salad, papaya salad, Thai tea and also tried my girlfriend’s pho. Highly recommend! Much love from this Texan 🤙

Pho is average at best, broth was too watery. Portion is ok and service is decent. Wouldn't call this place one of the best phos in Oahu for sure.

Portions are small for what you pay for. Usually pho comes with a decent amount of greens to add in your broth, did not expect to get the minimal. Generally dislike posting negative reviews, hoping this gets them to give at least a little more veggies to people.

At pho combination for $13 tax included and $2 tip. The broth was very refreshing and it tasted so good. I have been to this place many times in the past and their pho broth is always so refreshing and good. I definitely recommend this place for a Vietnamese pho noodle.

Comfortable pho with a mild tasting soup base. Excellent fried spring roll. Reasonable fee to use parking structure. Some MSG.

The broth is clear and bland which makes tasty. I do not get thirsty after eating the pho, unlike other places where they put too much MSG or too much salt. The quantity is just right size for me, unlike other places where give too many noodles and ended up too full.

Last day in Oahu and was craving pho. Ordered through Uber Eats. Didn't know what to expect, but was rather surprised when we received our food. They gave us very good portions. Pho broth was perfect! Had to pour half the broth and split the pho into another container to be able to fit everything. Next time I will ask for an empty container. Lamb chop was delicious. Very satisfied. Will definitely come back in the future.

I came here because the reviews said it was good here. When I actually went here, turns out it was actually not worth the good reviews. I order the large pho beef noodle and the portion was small. The soup base had absolutely no taste, instead the soup taste more like just hot water on pho. Will be my first and last time here, wouldn't recommend.
